Help! I can't get that stupid hand in Act 1

I go in the Posthetic's Palace and play the music box but when I go over to the basket the music stops and I hear someone winding it back up... and then I can't take the hand. What am I doing wrong?

Head to the counter and play the music box for him. The music only plays for a few seconds so you quickly have to get over to the basket and get the wooden hand before the music stops.
