how do i get the monkey guage up and the temperature guage up

for the temperture one- Lava (try looking for the "Root" to the problem in the mine)

 

for the monkey one- get monkeys (they will come after you make a ultimate insult)

Don't worry about the monkeys, they'll come via a cut scene after you've built up the heat and pressure.

Right, the mine has a PIPE leading to loads of machinery, maybe something is meant to run through there?

And as 4 the weeds, you'd find them very interesting...
