no servers, PS2 slimline silver

Someone may've already hit on this, but having a problem.

 

I just got a PS2 slimline silver to replace my old PS2 slim which bought the farm. Popped in Battlefront and on multiplayer, the server list is empty. Battlefront II worked fine as always, no problems finding a game and game play was normal. In fact all other games I have, their online play is fine, but with the original Battlefront, I can't find any servers at all. The list is totally empty.

 

Any suggestions of what might be happening here? I don't believe they shut down the servers on Battlefront, some friends are still playing it, so kinda at a loss here.
