flickering screen problem

I can't fix this problem to save my life. I've searched all over google and I haven't found anything that works.

 

The problem: When running KOTOR, there is a terrible flickering of the screen that makes the game absolutely unplayable.

 

What I've tried:

I've tried various video settings such as turning off/on V-sync, changing the resolution, etc.

 

I've put the game in windowed mode, which actually does fix the flickering problem, but I can't make the game fill the screen. In windowed mode it only allows one window size, which takes up about a 1/4 of my screen. I've tried using the program shiftwindow to make it fill the screen. It expands the window borders and fills in the empty space with black, it doesn't actually fill the screen with the game.

 

I've also tried the universal widescreen patch, which didn't really seem to do anything at all.

 

I'm running Windows 7 on Boot Camp on a late 2006 iMac. The graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon X1600
