Have you installed our 1.1 update for the game? Do this first. You can find the update at the following URL: http://support.lucasarts.com/patches/monkey-4.htm After installing the patch, please load-up a SAVED GAME before this area and then advance again through the SWAMP and back up to this point of the game. *** If you have a GAME CONTROLLER (gamepad or joystick) connected to your system, please disable/disconnect it from your system before entering the game and playing this area. Chipper Posted December 30, 2000 Share Posted December 30, 2000 I have also got this problem. It goes like this: 1. Get the skeleton key etc. from future Guybrush 2. Get two options on screen "Talk to Guybrush" or "Open Gate". 3. Open inventory and select key to open gate. 4. Guybrush is holding key, however the option to open the gate has now vanished. No matter what I do I cannot get Guybrush to use the key on the gate. I have installed the patch but it still doesn't work. Have any of you guys managed to get the patch to work ? Thanks. sjeaves Posted December 30, 2000 Share Posted December 30, 2000 I have tried absolutely everything-downloaded the patch, even reinstalled the game and started right from the beginning-but I still cant speak or open the inventory in the swamp. This is driving the whole family mad now!!! Anyone else got a bright idea? I have emailed Lucasarts but had no reply yet-perhaps they are all drinking at the Scumm Bar??? You need to download the patch, then make sure you disable the joystick and controller options in the Options menu. I did this even though I dont have a joystick connected.
