A Little Probelm with Kotor 2

So, I have downloaded Knights of the Old Republic 2 off of the four disks that you get for the PC version of the game. To be clear, I am (Trying) playing Kotor 2 on a Windows Seven Home Premium Laptop. After the download, I got to the startup menu, went through the configuration, and started up the game. The game crashed before I got to the main menu and after several tries, I finally got to the Character Creation Screen. Then after the intro starts and we see the freighter passing through the asteroid field of Despair, the game crashed again. I have not been able to get past the intro since...

 

If you have any suggestions on what I should do, please comment. I have downloaded the Restored Content Mod, but that was after all the crashes I experienced.
