Guest ZeroXcape
After recently playing Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, I got to see the ending once again. I must say, for EMI to have a better ending then MI2, it will have to be very, very impressive What do you think? ------------------ ZeroXcape EMI.com Webmaster zeroxcape@escapemi.com

Guest ZeroXcape
Ydon: you hated EMI's ending? Give me a copy!! LeChuck: you haven't seen... "*THE ENDING*" ? It is possibly the greatest moment of the Monkey Island Series. So much is revealed! ------------------ ZeroXcape EMI.com Webmaster zeroxcape@escapemi.com
Ydon
Erg, MI2's ending even . What an odd typo there... Personaly, I liked SMI's ending best, but most people disagree with me. [This message has been edited by Ydon (edited May 20, 2000).]
L_E_UT
I thought SMI's ending was the best because it was funny. Guybrush went through the whole quest to find what he needed to beat LeChuck when he had the solution right under his nose.
RH
I never really understood why Guybrush was LE Chuck's brother, it was a bit odd to me. However I was only 8 when I played it and I'm 15 now, so I can't remember. Can someone remind me?
Chronic9ball
That was crap the ending lol...Nothing happen..it was really crappy but Mi2 rocked the house
Doc
I think in MI2, LeChuck was really just messing with Guybrush's mind. I doubt he's really his brother.
Guest ZeroXcape
Messing with Guybrush's mind? That certainly is an interested take on it. I haven't heard anyone say that before. ------------------ ZeroXcape EMI.com Webmaster zeroxcape@escapemi.com
Doc
I havent played part 3 yet, but the end has Guybrush in an amusement park, and "Chucky's" eyes crackling with energy. Which implies there's more to this than meets the eye than a simple family outing. And the CMI demo starts out with Guybrush adrift at sea in a bumper car. At any rate, MI2's ending is definately far from permanent ------------------ "Can I call you Bob?"
Ydon
I always thought it was an illusion as well, because of what Doc mentioned, and Elaine's quite about LeChuck putting a curse on Threepwood.
KrazyNick
See at the end of MI2, Guybrush met Lechuck, pretending to be Chucky and lured Guybrush into the Carnival of the Damned, which is on Monkey island. When Chucky's eyes sparkle, you infer that it is really Lechuck. At the beginning of CMI, you see Guybrush in a bumper car, (his escape from the carnival) ------------------ By my Gangrenous gut, how did you escape my Carnival of the Damned?? Akira
Many people will disagree with me but I believe that CMI had a very interesting and good ending. This ending was good because it had the build-up of all the other cinematic clips. It was rather short but I enjoyed it very much. Compared to MI2 The ending was about the same length but MI1 still has the longest ending, I think. LONG LIVE MI1!!!!!
Jonny Haggis
MI1 is still my favourite ending of any game I've ever played. It was just the perfect reward after adventuring through Ron Gilbert's wonderful fantasy world. It made me feel happy and even a little bit sad that it was done (at that point I never dreamed it would get a sequel never mind three!). MI2's ending was a little dissapointing after the first play. I was expecting another happy, carefree ending and was instead presented with an ending that was much darker and reminded me very much of The Empire Strikes Back (I cried when Darth told Luke he was his father!). MI3's ending was a big dissapointment to me. The game had been really good up till then and then it just fell flat on it's face with a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' finale. Here's hoping that Escape from Monkey Island is as good as we hope.....and that it's ending makes us feel all warm and gooey inside!!!
HermanTheHermit
I always thought that they were really kids. Just playing with action figures. And it would be confirmed on another MI. Well you guys told me some, but I sorta don't understand. By the way, I'm new here. ------------------ I have come to kill you! Mwahahahahaha! HermanTheHermit
I also thought that Chucky was pretending to be LeChuck. But now that I remember Chucky's name its more reasonable. ------------------ I have come to kill you! Mwahahahahaha!
Timothy
I've heard that the Escape From Monkey Island will be longer than all the endings of MI together.
mchou773
MI2 rocked! The ending was just as good as the game in a lesser degree!!!
Lechuck13
Okay. Here's the answer to end all answers, IMHO. I agree when i first finished mi2 (i was 10, i believe), i did think the first two games had been the dreams of a little boy. Then, along came CMI. In CMI, it is revealed that Guybrush was trapped in the cranival of the damned and it was all a trick. Here is why i believe that and how it makes sense. When Guybrush blasted the hole in the giant X in mi2, he ended up falling through that black pit, eventually ending up in the tunnel. I think somewhere in that blackness, was the entrance to the carnival of the damned. Think about it. 1) How else could Guybrush have fallen through a hole in Dinky Island, and landed in a tunnel on monkey island. 2) If the tunnel was really on dinky island, disregaring the fact the carnival outside was on monkey island, how else would you explain how the elevator takes you up to melee island? I think that Guybrush landed in the maintenance tunnel of the CArninval of the Damned (hereforward known as COTD). Lechuck played into guybrush's dream/nightmare by pretending he was Guybursh's borhter Chucky, and making guybrush think he was on a vacation with his family. When the four start leaving the screen, you see Chucky/LeChuck's eyes start flashing sparks, showing that there's more to this than meets the eye. And, at the beginning of CMI, Guybrush writes in his log that he escaped LeChuck's COTD, and he is floating in bumper car. Now, to confuse you even more: That's what really happened, but officially, Ron Gilbert's idea was completely different. There was no carnival. Confused yet? good. Now, how was Guybrush transported to the COTD from the hole in Dinky Island, you ask? Good question. My theory is: The tresure chest Guybrsuh was holding right before he fell into the darkness CONTAINED the carnival of the damned! When Guybrush hit the bottom of the pit (which, I'll bet was just a regular dirt hole), that broke the chest, unleashing the curse of Big Whoop, and trapping Guybrush in the Carnival of the Damned. That's my theory. Any questions? ------------------ "That's the second biggest monkey head I've ever seen!" -Guybrush Threepwood
PegLegPete
According to LeChuck, Dinky Island was an atoll off the coast of Monkey Island. When Guybrush blew the X, he was on Dinky. The maintence tunnell appearently ran under water. So the whole thing was real and not a dream. The Carnival of the Damned was on Monkey Island. ------------------ I'm selling these fine leather jackets...
Jonny Haggis
With regards to the two previous posts: Yes I would agree that the tunnel under Dinky led to Monkey Island, as Dinky was supposedly positioned just off the coast of Monkey, but how the hell did the elevator go up to Melee Island alley?! This has always confused me, someone PLEASE offer an explanation before they bang me up in a padded room with a hug yourself jacket!!! MI4-ever. Largo LeGrande
I think that LeChuck built the whole Carneval of Dammed (if you talked 'bout it to LeChuck at the start of episode "the kiss of spider monkey, he say it) And remember those lava tunnels from MI1) I think that was the tunnel to Dinky, until LeChuck built a shorter concrete tunnel from carneval of Dammed to the secret place of hidden Big Whoop. Elevator thing was a voodoo spell (better ideas?) or it was a pretty fast elevator to really Mêlée Island(have you seen the map of MI islands? Mêlée is pretty far away from Monkey). He built the tunnel 'cause he know that Guybrush will find the Big Whoop and fall to his hand. Spoiler You, know. In MI2, LeChuck wanted Guybrush away. First he tried to built a voodoo doll, but the spell wasn't ready in few days and LeChuck wasn't patient so he try get a better Idea. Then his only hope was Largo LaGrande. Largo kidnap Wally and Guybrush walk to LeChuck. And all this time he (LeChuck) have a idea, how to get an army of the undead: the Carneval of Dammed. His agent were building it. But Guybrush escaped from LeChuck. Now LeChucks only hope was Carneval of Dammed. He went there, somehow finnished the voodoo doll and the spell and waited for Guybrush. And then he come. LeChucks doll was broken, but he had a spell what was for this moment. He comfused Guybrushs mind and now Guybrush think that he they was brothers. Now a guy(LeChucks skeleton) came take them to thecarneval of dammd(On Monkey Island). I know that Big Whoop is a port to another dimension, but can somebody tell me what is the ticket in the chest? Is it important? And I think that Big Whoop was the Secret of Monkey Island.
PegLegPete
Johnny Haggis, my guess is that the elevator was just an easter egg. ------------------ I'm selling these fine leather jackets...
Claire
How does that ticket with the capital 'E' figure in all this. Maybe if I knew what that was meant to stand for, everything would be alot clearer :-)
