Perfume on the Platypus

Everytime I try to spray the Platypus at Ozzie's feet in order to get him to break his cane, Guybrush won't do it. He says something about keeping it for his friends. Did I miss a step or something?

Lechuck smell or the one you made?

 

You have to use the lechuck one you get from the perfume bloke. It is the free sample bottle.

And use it on the playtypus near the door, not the one at his feet.

I sprayed it on the one by his feet, and that worked just fine. He might have just been using the wrong perfume.
