gubernatorial symbol (act 3)

At the end of act 3, i am supposed to stick the gubernatorial symbol in the slot in the monkey head, but i do not have the symbol in my inventory! what should i do?

Talk to Herman!

I've spoken to Herman, thrown the coconut, milk bottle and accordian (in that order (and others!)). However, he never remembers his past. I've now completed all other parts including getting the bronze hat from jo jo. Am I missing something??

Nothing wrong with that order, but talk to Herman and you'll find he starts to remember a little after every item.

Save at once because if you do a mistake you have to start all over again!

Grannen, he just said (and others). Sorry to break it to ya, but you're screwed. It's a bug. Reload from before you hit him with the other combos, because once he's lost it, he's lost it.
