Guest Rookie
Thanks to all for the advice on the Kessel issue. Now what I need to know is "can you change the view e.g. cockpit/close outside/distant outside"? My copy of RS is second-hand and didn't come with the normal instruction book. Any hints/tips/advice greatly appreciated. ------------------ The Rookie
Guest Rogue15
If this is the n64 version, try using the control pad, or just go to options and controls to ifnd out and change your configuration.
Guest R.A.V.E.N.
Well rookie (*Reaches for R.S. Instrustion Booklet, then realizes the span of time since he has kept track of it has reached a very large number indeed*) Couldnt tell ya....... Just go in to configure your keyboard. Thatl tell ya what it is. But between you 'n me in arcade style games like R.S. youre better off to keep your view outside the cockpit. The cockpit view is more usefull in games like X-Wing Alliance where you have a targeting computer and a crosshair. ------------------ I buy socks every thursday rather than clean the ones I have. Guest Lt Cracken
I'm with RAVEN. outside=victory. and good flying. coupled with missles. shaken, not stirred. ------------------ Even if you dodge this, Kakarotto, THIS PLANET'S GOING UP IN SMOKE!! Guest Chillin
If you've got the 64 version then click the "L" button to cycle through the views. ------------------ "Tis easier to ask forgiveness than permission."
Guest Imladil
A word on outside view vs. cockpit view. Cockpit view, with the cockpit 'turned off' so you have the HUD display. Then there is nothing but crosshairs and bad guys to deal with. Plus, it's more like I'm flying a real starfighter instead of a model airplane. Although the Y-wing's bombs are more useful in outside view... ------------------ "I sought the true nature of reality but discovered instead the real nature of truth." --Thrustweasel of Earth
Guest Rookie
Many thanks for the tips, guys! I have just tried RS again in without the usual view and what a difference it makes. Flying with only the cross-hairs is sooooo much better! ------------------ The Rookie

Guest Rookie
I hate to say it, but I'm not using the N64 but a PC version so thanks go to Imladil and R.A.V.E.N for their advice. Guest The Master
There isn't much of a difference between the N64 and PC versions, so don't get smart with me!
Guest Chillin
There is no difference, except you have to get downloads to get the new ships, I just put in a code. ------------------ "Tis easier to ask forgiveness than permission."

Guest Imladil
Yes...but you're flying your starfighter with a silly little game paddle instead of a true and proper joystick. For shame!
Guest Chillin
Yes, that is a set back, but you get over it for sheer love of the game. ------------------ "Tis easier to ask forgiveness than permission."
Guest The Master
But the N64 paddle has a JOYSTICK if you havn't noticed.

Guest Imladil
Oh, I've flown Nintendo, and there's no joy in that stick. You have so much more control with a larger joystick...and let's face it, it's easier to pretend you're in a real starfighter when you have something more realistic to fly with. Shootist hasn't said a peep through this whole joystick debate. The strain must be unbearable... ------------------ "I sought the true nature of reality but discovered instead the real nature of truth." --Thrustweasel of Earth
Guest Rogue15
I agree with you about the n64's joystick so lets start a petition and force n64 to make a joystick for the n64!!!
Guest Chillin
Actually I think they have a joy stick, or is that Playstation? I'm not sure. ------------------ "The pen is mightier than the sword. Thats the biggestload of s**t!"
Guest Rogue15
It's playstation n64 only has the controller and that really stinks. They should make a joystick i asked them if they had plans of making one and they said no. I haven't been playing Rogue Squadron for a while, I've started playing Jedi Knight which is pretty fun. I got all these star wars games: Rogue Squadron 64 Racer 64 Shadows of the Empire 64 (that game is awesome) TIE Fighter X-Wing X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Flight School Rebellion Rebel Assault 1 Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith Super Empire Strikes Back That's alot of star wars games plus my dad has Force Commander and that game rules. I got the Saitek Cyborg 2000 joystick for my computer and i wish it was compatible with the n64. The funnest game for computer i think is Jedi Knight 'cause i can get levels for it and i found out how to get the high-resolution graphics in even though i got a 486 with 16 megs of ram and no 3d accellerator!!! To do this: do the full install go into settings put it to 640 X whatever you want Then go into the game and minimize the screen as far as possible. And the graphics and game run smoothly-even with sound and music. Very hard to play at first but then it seems like playing a gameboy 'cause your eyes adjust to the small screen. Guest The Master
Imladil, they do have a full size joystick for the n64. The have more than one type of controller you know.
