Guest Gold Squadron Leader
Rogue 15 is right. Nothing could be added to the current N64 RS without releasing a whole new cartridge. For PC however it should be possible, although it would be a huge patch to download. But a full, stand alone sequel would be better and probably necessary to add the wanted components effectively. I hope RSII is really going to happen, and wasn't just a one time demo movie to show off the GameCube. If that is the case, then RS has no future that I see and we can only hope Lucas Arts will development a similar game sometime soon. ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em! Guest Cougar
I'm actually looking forward to the SWTTC more. There's some really good editors working on that. Ryan, the webmaster for www.commandchamber.net - the best SP JK site out there, is doing the Death Star level with Obi-Wan. He's the guy who did the level 'Imperial Seige on Derra IV'. Now, hopefully you have played that superb level, and if you haven't, download it and play it now. You can see that the DS level is going to kick. However, Anthony Piggot is doing stuff for the TPMTC, and he's a great editor as well. If you don't know, he has done many SP levels, his most famous set being the BoaM series(Birth of a Mercenary). That's another must download. He's also working on the Tales of a Mercenary series, and he already has the first of the series out. The next is on Nal Hutta and he already has neat looking Hutt guard enemies, and the third is on Alderaan. Anyway, back to the debate; The fact that Rogue Squadron can't physcially handle MP just shows it's inferiority. ------------------ I'm not crazy, I'm just a little confused. Guest Cougar
BTW, what do you mean the plot isn't as bad as it may seem? TIE Fighter gave tons of info on the missions and made gameplay much more enjoyable, especially toward the end when you're in huge battles with Zaarin. If the plot isn't so bad, tell me why the transports had to travel through Imperial territory in order to be picked up? Why couldn't RS just defend the base while the shuttle came over? Why was RS so perplexed in ESB when they couldn't take down the AT-AT's with blasters, even though they've discovered how to destroy them before in numerous missions? Why was Seerdon taking out bacta plants when he and the rest of the galaxy, including Imperial-controlled systems, need the bacta to heal the injured? Why were the Imperial trying to blow up the Nuuna(or whatever ship it was in Level 3- it's been a while since I've played. ) when they could instead interrogate the prisoners and figure out how much information they have, if they gave out any information, etc.? Why were the Imperials blowing up civilian farms and bombing Mos Eisley? How did Luke know the Imperials didn't have a justifiable reason for blowing up a city full of scum and villiany? The list goes on. ------------------ I'm not crazy, I'm just a little confused.
Guest Chillin
Umm, I really don't care, but I will agree that RS's plot sucks. However, you really can't compare it to different types of games. RS is an arcade game, you can't compare it to a simulator like XvT or X-Wing Alliance or whatever. I guess you wouldn't really be able to any PC game because it was made for 64, the only games you can compare RS to are other 64 game like, I don't know, Star Fox or something. Heck just leave me out of it. ------------------ "You might be a redneck Jedi Knight if you constantly mistake R2 units as beer kegs"
Guest Cougar
Who said arcades can't have a good plot? N64 can still have some elements that made the sims good. ------------------ I'm not crazy, I'm just a little confused.

Guest ovienandenobi
What's a TC. Jedi Knight was my very first game, and MOTS is a hit with all my family members. This sounds exciting. ------------------ If only you knew the power of the dark side
Guest Chillin
I have no idea what a TC is. And If you are refering to me as a newbie, by saying "let some of us older patrons explain the petition" then you may kindly notice how I have a couple hundred more posts than you. If not than we have a terrible misunderstanding. ------------------ "You might be a redneck Jedi Knight if you constantly mistake R2 units as beer kegs"
Guest Chillin
Oh yeah, I'm not saying 64 games can't have a good plot, I'm just saying they usually don't because there isn't enough room on the cartridge. ------------------ "You might be a redneck Jedi Knight if you constantly mistake R2 units as beer kegs"
Guest Gold Squadron Leader
You are correct Chillin. These are the points that I tried to explain to Cougar earlier. Yes, N64 games could have better plots but are more limited storage-wise than PC games. And RS is a great arcade game for its type, and that type is NOT a space simulator like XvT or X-Wing Alliance. Your comparing apples to oranges, peanut butter to apple butter, astromech droids to rolling trash cans... Oh wait, those last two ARE the same. Whatever. ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em! Guest Rogue15
a tc is a Total Conversion of a game, it changes the whole storyline of the game or adds a completely different one. I heard of the Star wars TC, i haven't been reading about it, which i should be doing.
Guest Rogue15
if there wasn't shadows of the empire, there would be no rogue squadron. Rogue Squadron has one multiplayer level that nobody seems to notice at first. It's the chicken level, it's a 2-player one, player 1 controls the movement, player 2 controls the head and firing. it's awesome.
Guest Chillin
I had no idea the chicken level was multiplayer. cool! ------------------ "You might be a redneck Jedi Knight if you constantly mistake R2 units as beer kegs"

Guest Cougar
Why does a good plot require cartridge space? Just add some more text to the instruction manual! Just making the plot a little more realistic doesn't take too much space, does it? And yes, 'TC' is short for 'Total Conversion'. It changes basically everything in the game: Weapons, skins, 3do's, textures, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's not just plot. If that were true, every SP level made would have to be called a TC because the plot is different. However, generally JK TC's are set in different movies and TV shows. For example, I know of a Jurrasic Park TC, Alien TC, AlienNation TC, Star Trek TC, etc. A 'PC' would be a 'Partial Conversion'. Those only have a few things changed. Those are less common, but I would think have a higher chance of being completed. I'd say about 2% of all JK TC's actually get completed. However, the SWTTC and the TPMTC are definately going to be completed. There are very competent and talented people working on those, and I know that the SWTTC is near to completion. I don't know about the TPMTC, but I've heard only good things. ------------------ I'm not crazy, I'm just a little confused.
