Guest LukA_YJK
Dear STAR WARS: ROGUE SQUADRON fans ! First of all - Greetings from Baku ! I am glad to "see" you all again ! Some pilots already wrote here that other forums sneers at RogueSqd fans and our forum, and they noticed that the main reason is that since we have not any utilities like level editors etc. we have nothing to do but inventing new methods to make the existing levels more interesting, but it bores everybody at last and... you know. As example JediKnight fans can make their our new levels, new characters and develope the game as they want ! The main problem is that unlike most of other StarWars games the RogueSqd game data is stored in a special format. For example in JediKnight all sounds are in usual WAV, objects are in well-known 3DO format and even myself once made an Extractor for its GOO resource files. Finally, it seems that the Rogue Squadron 2 on PC will not come soon but we have New Year holidays soon. So maybe Let's try to make (or to get) a level editor ! Better to get it if it is possible (available), but if it is not then... Everybody, who has some programming skills and who has closer contacts with RogueSqd developers (example: Lt Guilo as I know may try togather to get some information (even a little hint may be helpfull) about data formats, especially level data ! By the way, can we update the site at last ? There have been many news - new passcodes, new strategies and new utilities since 1998 ! If anybody has access to this pages I think we are able to build new more RogueSqd styled site ourselves even if LucasGames is not intrerested... Please, write what do you think about it all... Good luck and May the Force be with you ! LukA_YJK from Baku http://rogue.squadron.tripod.com
Guest Rogue15
hey, luka, is the rogue squadron pc sounds in .imc format? i could send you a utility that'd change that into .wav format if it's in .imc format. I've been using the utility on some of the demos, like the phantom menace demo, just wish i had a wav to midi converter, but i doubt one even exists (yet). Guest Gold Squadron Leader
Hey LukA_YJK! Glad to hear from you again. Your idea to make a level editor is an excellent one. I'll be glad to help you in any way I can. Unfortunately I am not a programmer, but I'll try to see what I can find out about the data formats. I am a System Support Representaive by trade, so I can really help in the areas that I do everyday on the job such as troubleshooting and testing. So if you and others can get something made I can do my darnest to make sure it works as well as possible. I don't know about anybody else here, but I'm real excited about the possibilities if we can figure something out. RS II, if it ever happens, is a long way off. Next fall at the earliest and even then probably only for the new GameCube and not PC. So if we wnat something new for RS, we'll have to make it ourselves. That said, I do fear that if the RS game data is in custom formats then trying to make mods with it will be too difficult, which is the reason it hasn't been done yet. But heck, I'm willing to give it a try! Reply back soon with what you found LukA_YJK. Talk to you later! ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em! Guest Rogue15
gold squadron leader, can you find out if the music files in rogue suqadron pc is in .imc format? just give me the ending name to one of them, maybe i could help.
Guest Sky Master
Hello? It's illegal to copy the SW inc's ideas! As I say it is a good day to die, but not to be throw in jail! --------------------------------------------- I rule the skies!
Guest Gold Squadron Leader
Sky Master, are you OK? You mean it is illegal for PC game players to make user mods and custom ships and levels of their games? Nobody does this without getting thrown in jail? Wait just a minute. Now, the real thing that make me mad and should you, is our attempt to do this for RS will most likely fail. The developers made RS in a matter that doesn't make it easy to do so. Remember, we are not making something to sell or make money, just want a way to expand RS life with new levels. But like I said above, I'm not a programmer so I can't do much. Even so, I seriously doubt it can be done or someone would of accomplished it by now. ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em!
Guest Gold Squadron Leader
My Data directory for RS contains only 2 files: Data.dat 30,928KB Data.hdr 1KB The main RS directory contains: Bundle.000 12.673KB Bundle.001 95KB Bundle.002 514KB Bundle.003 7KB These are the only files installed on my hard drive other than the player profiles that appear data related. The rest must be on the CD, no I just checked that, same Data and Bundle files. I don't know what to do with them. LukA_YJK??? ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em! Guest Gold Squadron Leader
You are probably right Sky Master. Anyhow, it appears hopeless to accomplish. For me anyway. ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em!

Guest LukA_YJK
Dear Friends ! I am very glad that all (or almost all) active pilots responsed to this call Thank you very much for support, we have a very good team - half-educated programmer, professional tester, super technician and watchful lawyer ! To be serious I also think that making a level-editor for RogueSqd by ourselves is nearly impossible, but I don't think that somebody will give us the original level-editor Hey, Rogues, don't lose courage and sorry for late reply - just have not a chance to use InterNet often But InterNet is great - maybe there is an information about somebody made this try before, you can ask other old-timer Rogues from our Forum or other communities. And once again, pilots who has some contacts with Developers perhaps can get information about data formats, especially level data ! Even a little hint may be helpfull ! Regarding legality we will not cast doubt on copyrights of respected owners by making a level editor even if we will be able, I think There is a precedent of JediKnight, at last... Now what I found: [Rogue15] Unfortunately RogueSqd sounds are not in .imc format. Speech sounds has a MORT header. A little research showed that this is a novel M.O.R.T sound format and other sounds are in custom MusyX format also by Factor5. [Gold Squad Leader] Bundle files contain Roster data - button and panel images, font bitmaps, action scripts etc. Data.dat is the main file that contains all levels, sounds and models. My RogueScr screen saver extracts images namely from this file. [] Each of 20 levels stored in "lv_[n]" package which contains 11 pieces: hmp(?) dat(level objects) gvm(scripts) opkg_HOB(terrain shape) opkg_HMT(terrain material) opkg2_HOB(?) opkg2_HMT(?) 1ky_HOB(sky shape) 1ky_HMT(sky material) ref_TM(?) lv_[n]_TEX(?) _HMT format almost completely figured out. _HOB is more interesting... Please wish me good luck and May the Force be with you ! LukA_YJK from Baku http://rogue.squadron.tripod.com
Guest Gold Squadron Leader
Wow LukA_YJK, good job. I haven't given up, just don't what I can do to help. Obviously you know more about the file structure than I. I admit I knew that the sound was in Factor 5's custom MusyX format, sorry I didn't state that earlier. so I don't know how we could ever work with sound without the help of a Factor 5 developer. Hey, at least you figured out how to extract objects from that huge data file. That's a start. I wish I had contacts with Factor 5, but I don't and I don't know of anyone that does. If they do, I seriously doubt they come here. We'll have to go out hunting at other SW sites. And no, nobody is going to give us a level editer. It would be a miracle to say the least. Our only hope is Luke, no wait, I meant to say luck. We have to find someone from the inside or at least someone with more knowledge of the data formats. Keep up the good work LukA_YJK! ------------------ Ties are flies, swat'em!

Guest LukA_YJK
Dear Friends ! I want to say Happy New Year and New Century to you all ! [Rogue15] I also saw this complete PASSCODE list at Factor5 site www.factor5.com, but it is for N64 version [Rogue15] Max the bunny is originally in one of the first JediKnight II levels - The level of town with bazaar and a river. When you approach the bridge on this river a woman comes down the bridge and stopes in front of a door. If you will go inside togather you will meet Max sitting on a chair. Sit down on a chair in front of the bunny, then he will go out of doors to play with you... This thread is long enough, so I decide to continue in a new topic...
