Hi I'm new here, though I've been on alt.games.lucas-arts.star-wars.rogue-squadron for a while now.

Has anyone heard anything about Battle For Naboo PC, which will be coming out in March?

I've heard it's basically RS2 and much much better than RS. If so, it's really really good news. RS itself is amazing, just imagine what Naboo would be like!!!

So this game hasn't been released for PC yet, has it? What about the N64 version? I just came from the LucasArts site and it was available for pre-order for $40. That gets you BfN, free shipping and a free copy of RS. That seems a lot to pay for what I think is basically RS rewritten for Episode I, which I personally don't think was a very good film.

I'm usually very wary of pre-ordering software since you don't know what you are getting until it's too late. I doubt it would be real buggy, but you never know.

So, what does BfN have that RS doesn't that would warrant spending $40 hard earned dollars? Graphics in screen shots appear to be a little better, but maybe that's doctored some. I have a bad feeling this is not the sequel to RS that we have been wishing for.

Anybody with N64 version please list differences and/or improvements.

bfn isn't as good as Rogue Squadron, if i were you i'd wait for the price to drop.

Rogue Squadron dropped down to $20, well, i'd have to say that rogue and battle for naboo is worth $40. Remember that if it has bugs, lucasarts usually releases patches to fix them. Also you might want to wait though, 'cause sometimes they add things to the game, like some redbook audio.

Hey everybody, why the bad attitude about Battle for Naboo? The PC version hasn't even been released yet! I got some clips from Gamespot (or somewhere) and they looked really cool!

-(I'm going to be really embarrased if the game does turn out to be a failure)

It is not so much a bad attitude, as much as disappointment about BfN not offering much more than RS. From what I have read and seen in reviews, the only differences are: Set in Episode I, graphics slightly better, able to switch ships mid mission(including land craft). Now only the last item would be a real improvement in my book. But since I don't like Episode I, I wouldn't pay 40 bucks just to fly new ships.

On the plus side, if I didn't already have RS then the LucasArts pre-order deal would be really great. You get 2 games for the price of one and free shipping. So if anybody out there doesn't have RS for PC already an dis interested in BfN, then this offer is worth considering.

I wish Lucasarts would team up with some real seasoned PC game-makers. The fact that they have the greatest gaming license (Star Wars) in the world and yet there only outright success was Jedi Knight amazes me! Sometimes I ponder about the incredible land and air-based combat games that could be developed with that license and think why haven't they developed such a game!

Considering it's Episode 1, I think most of us RS people will probably wait for the demo before plunking down $40. Is it me or does it seem that Lucasarts is concentrating more on the console market these days? I know it's not going to happen but I really think that Lucas Arts should focus on the Classic Trilogy - this is the heart and soul of Star Wars. Even the younger fans become SW fans because of the trilogy not Episode 1. Sorry for the novel - it just seems to me that the Star Wars gaming experience could be so much greater than it is!

If the vehicles and terrain are different, I'd definitely buy it. (But not for $40! Hopefully the price drops.) Waiting for the demo is probably the best thing to do after all. But I'm feeling optimistic. Say what you will about Episode 1, the planet of Naboo is a great new place! biggrin.gif
