Guest Grand_Admiral_Ice
I'm too lazy to register at a XWA forum, so I'll ask here. Do I absolutely need a joystick to play X-Wing Alliance? A Gravis Blackhawke Digital Joystick should cost $29.99 right? XWA is worth $19.99 right? ------------------ I find your lack of faith disturbing [This message has been edited by Grand_Admiral_Ice (edited March 04, 2001).]
Guest Molten_Lava1
I believe so I have tried to play XWA without a joystick. It didn't work. The only time I was able to play without a joystick was with the demo. But it sucks because you can't control your craft or shoot properly. I hope that has cleared up some of your doubts. Guest Grand_Admiral_Ice
I have made a command decision, I'm going to get X-Wing Trilogy. ------------------ I find your lack of faith disturbing
Guest Xizor
Admiral, Yes, I'm afraid you will need a joystick for XWA. As for sticks... Personally, i tink the Blackhawke is too basic. I discovered early that while Force Feedback is a bit frivolous, the more keyboard commands you can slave to a joystick, the better. This basically means that I find it best to get a joystick that has not only many buttons, but also nice software to map commands to it. Anything by Microsoft is good. I use the Saitek X36 Flight Controller System. It ran me about $100 at CompUSA, and I had to save up for a while, but it was well worth it. It has about 26 buttons, and SIX (count 'em) axes. It works great w/ RS, XWA, and just about any other flight sim (space or atmosphere) you can find. Also, $19.96 is the best retail I've found on XWA. ------------------ To contend with Xizor is to lose...
Guest Grand_Admiral_Ice
Well is X-Wing Trilogy is worth my 30 bucks (puls tax, dam government)? It has X-Wing, Tie Fighter and XWA plus Xvs.T Flight school, but I don't really care for the last one. You know if I was emperor of the Earth, there would be no such things as taxes, they would be cleverly renamed to "offerings to keep you alive". All i need is an army, navy, air force, and a middle class country. Any of you fellas willing to contribute anyone of those? If it's possible build me a Super Star Destroyer. I don't have a 100 bucks (plus tax) to shell out for a dam joystick. Bill Gates shall be the first to go, I need money to finance my military campaign. Xizor, loosen up a bit you sound uptight. ------------------ I find your lack of faith disturbing [This message has been edited by Grand_Admiral_Ice (edited March 04, 2001).]

Guest Redwing
I just got X-Wing trilogy, and here's my ratings comparative to Rogue Squadron... 1.XWA & RS tie for 1st 2.TIE Fighter 3.X-Wing 4.X-W vs TIE flight school ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.
Guest Moff_Kioet
it's TOTALLY worth it. even if you need to buy a joystick, it's still worth it. X-Wing has over 100 missions, and so does TIE Fighter, and X-Wing alliance you can control ANY craft, and it has a multiplayer (and the graphics are a little better than rogue squadrons). Guest Xizor
I know i sound uptight. It's kind of a "Xizor-role-playing" thing. Read "Shadows of the Empire." You'll know what I mean. It's all in good humor, and to me, it keeps things interesting. ------------------ To contend with Xizor is to lose... Guest Grand_Admiral_Ice
I rather spend my money on games and I live near a very crappy library. So is anyone going to contribute to my world domination campaign? I would like someone to build me on them "Nuclear Defense Shields" everyone in the US is fussing about. You know "Project Star Wars". ------------------ I find your lack of faith disturbing
