Guest Rogue Renegade Posted March 16, 2001 Posted March 16, 2001 I've never really been one to use the cockpit view, but recently, as I continued my quest to find out what "usedaforce" actually does, I stumbled upon something of interest. Did you guys know the laser fire targeting is aided in the cockpit view? Go try it. Just take the X-wing, run a mission, go to cockpit view, then, aim your sights to the side of an enemy target and fire. Not every shot will be pulled to the enemy, but some of them will, especially as you fly past the target. At first, I though I had uncovered "usedaforce", but after some experimenting, I found that it works without the passcode. Oh well, it's still pretty neat.
Guest General_Kioet Posted March 16, 2001 Posted March 16, 2001 I knew that, R2's the one who does that, if you've read the x-wing books, you'll notice that those lasers can track enemies, sortof. All the ships except the v-wing and speeder do that.
Guest Lt Cracken Posted March 16, 2001 Posted March 16, 2001 it does that anyways. it's automatic. kinda like a small cushion for those who aren't very good yet. Me, how ever, can bulleye tie's from a good distance away.
Guest General_Kioet Posted March 16, 2001 Posted March 16, 2001 i like to approach ties from the side, and fire into their flight path, that's a good trick on Thyferra.
Guest Redwing Posted March 17, 2001 Posted March 17, 2001 The A-wings blasters are better at it, since they pivot. The V-Wing makes up for its lack of this ability by having rapid-fire lasers, and the speeder's blasters are very good in themselves. ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. Guest General_Kioet Posted March 17, 2001 Posted March 17, 2001 the a-wing is awesome!!! my favorite rebel ship has gotta be either the a-wing or x-wing...i can't decide!!! my fav. imperial starfighter is the TIE Interceptor, i love that ship!!!
Guest Redwing Posted March 17, 2001 Posted March 17, 2001 I think the Defenders and Assault Gunboats are the best Imperial starfighters, but they don't have those in RS. ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.
Guest Rogue Posted March 17, 2001 Posted March 17, 2001 History in the making folks, Me and RedWing Actually agree on something!
Guest Rogue9 Posted March 17, 2001 Posted March 17, 2001 Actuallt General, the Xwings lasers are locked into a certain angle they can not move to target in any way, though they can be set to different zero distances, this is talked about in many of the X-Wing Novels, when refering to the little speed demons (A-Wings) and another reason they are insufferable around us "Pointer"(X-Wings for those not schooled in slang)Pilots, because or lasers alas do not swivel. but a true pilot doesn't need help anyway. Guest Rogue Renegade Posted March 20, 2001 Posted March 20, 2001 Okay, why then does it work in the cockpit view and not the other views? If you doubt it, please experiment first hand before answering.
Guest Redwing Posted March 20, 2001 Posted March 20, 2001 It doesn't matter what the book says---in RS, the X-wing's blasters DO shoot slightly off to hit a target. ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.
Guest General_Kioet Posted March 20, 2001 Posted March 20, 2001 they swivel in any way, they have so much room to swivel though.
