Guest General_Kioet
YAY!!!! I just proved it!!! in x-wing alliance i did a skimrish, i had 6 (2 waves, meaning 3 x-wings a round) x-wings vs. my tie fighter and wingman, my wingman, got destroyed almost immediately, but i kept my cool, and vaped all the x-wings!!!! They were veteran x-wings too!!!! torpedo-less though, so i guess that make alot of difference. The TIE Fighter is my new ship of choice. Its lasers pack more of a punch than the x-wings. Guest General_Kioet
whoa! i tried playing with the x-wings having torps, and me having no wingmen, and i vaped them all!!! actually one of the x-wings helped, one of them followed me, and overshot and brought the shields down a little on one. Guest Redwing
If you are referring to the standard TIE: **laughs** (Unless you are a heck of a good pilot.) If you are referring to the TIE Defender: **agree** ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge. Guest Lujayne
Not even Tycho Celchu in a TIE fighter was able to beat Corran Horn in an X-Wing! (see the beginning of the first RogueSquad book) And Tycho was a heck of a good pilot.<font size=-2> [This message has been edited by Lujayne (edited March 29, 2001).]

Guest Redwing
I was about to point that out but you beat me to the punch X-Wings kick TIE butt! Guest General_Kioet
I know, i read that part, but he did admit that he was just rusty. Yes redwing, it was the original tie fighter. I'm going to keep upping the difficulty on it, and practice alot, once i'm good at a very high difficulty, i'll switch ot the tie interceptor and really give the rebels a hard time! woohoo!!!! Guest General_Kioet
another good thing about tie fighters is that their lasers don't seem to over-heat. Man, i wish i could play on the zone.
Guest Guneenya
I'm with the General... the TIE Fighter is a fantastic ride. Shame about the paper thin hull though. Now the TIE Interceptor is always my ship of choice in XWA, much more fun than the comparatively sluggish X-Wing. And there's just something so manly about flying a starfighter that's completely unshielded hee hee....
Guest General_Kioet
yeah, you get so used to flying unshielded, and then one day you get into a tie dfedner, and put all shields to engines, and then nobody will catch up to you!
Guest Redwing
I normally fly TIES for experience so I don't have to depend on shields. Otherwise I prefer the A-wing so I can take a couple hits while keeping speed. But the Defender I will fly any day; if it was in RS it would certainly be the only contender against the A-wing for my preferred craft. Actually, I only laughed at you b/c I felt like laughing at someone ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge. Guest General_Kioet
the a-wing is the best rebel ship their is. it doesn't belong in a museum like the x-wing does.
Guest Rogue9
indeed the Original T-65 Model does belong in a Museum showcasing its Glorious Contribution to the Rebellion, The T-65 XJ will blow an A-Wing out of the sky no contest , it is the Model currently in active service with the New Republic. Guest Redwing
You both are wrong---I personally consider myself an A-wing pilot, and I love the craft, but X-wings (the newest ones, not the original models) aren't exactly museum pieces like the Y-wings are. ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. Guest The Master
No they aren't museum peices. Now about these tie fighters being better than X-wings, I would have to disagree. My reasoning being that if you snap one good shot off at a tie it is flying towards the on and uncontrollable collision course. While the good old X-wing can take a good amount of damage before blowing. Now I understand that Ties have a better turning rate, but do they have torps? I thought not. Therefor if one of those torps are shot off at a tie, it is even difficult for the Tie to out run. Should I say more?
Guest General_Kioet
tie fighters don't need torpedoes.
Guest Redwing
Ever heard of the TIE Defender? TIEs are good to practice in, as they have no shields. And by the Battle of Yavin, the Y-wings were almost completely phased out by the newer B-wings. That's what I meant about being museum pieces. Of course, some pilots still fly them, as there are plenty worse craft. ------------------ At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.
