Repeat do not get it. It's a waste of time and it sucks. I got it from pc gamer today, i put in direct x 8 (if it ruins rogue squadron someone's going to die for it), and it was all cool, and then i get the naboo police cruiser, and i am just about ready to take on these staps and tanks, and the level ends! AARGH!!!!!!! Also, they give you the crappiest thing to fly, they give you the...Battle Stap, and it completely sucks and the level is not fun at all. Well, it's OK. there's only 2 types of enemies, droid fighters, and droid staps, and 2 tanks. WOW. if rogue squadron wrecks, i'll hang pc gamer. Well, it worked. The game didn't crash. probably because it's directx8.0A

I picked up BfN on ebay for $19.50, but it hasn't arrived yet. I chose to skip the demo because of the size, etc. Sounds like it was a good decision.

I let you know how the real game is when I get it.

wait a minute! the demo was actually quite good once you got used to flying the heavy stap. it doesn't have as much features compared to the n64/pc versions of rogue squadron, it's the excact same thing as the n64 version, just different codes and better graphics. the thing that made me a bit ticked was the way you can't type in the codes, you gotta use the scroll bar.

i think i'm going to buy it next time i go to the mall. The music is great, the action is fun, and the vehicles are cool. My favorite vehicles are the speeders.

i also found out that you can fly around forever once you get past the bridge!!!! I chose the naboo police cruiser and started burning down the trees. so cool!!!!

well, i think direct x 8.0a is slowly eating at my cpu. some programs wouldn't run, i ran scandisk, it reported no errors, i defragmented it last night though. at least it's not too bad.

Well rogue15, I have the BNF on the N64 and All I can say is it is great! I don't know how far the demo goes in the game, but once you get past the first levels, that are on the ground, and you get some real flight time, it is great fun!

You can play BfN without Dx8.0a, as I found out. The file 'BFN.exe' in the data_PC lets you go straight to the game, and I haven't run into any problems.

Is it just me, or is BfN exceedingly easy?

Well my brother screwed around with the DirectX stuff, he says he installed both at once by telling RS to reinstall DirectX 6, and somehow made everything work. RS wouldn't work at first.

1. Yes BFN is "easy", but right now I'm unable to get a single gold medal on the first 5 levels because it counts "lives left" as a criteria--I def. do not like that!

2. The later levels are killing me because I'm losing too many lives. But if I don't, there's almost no way to take out the enemies (I want to "reload" my secondary fire"). The weapons all seem so impotent! I want some weapons upgrades big time!

3. Yeah the scrolling code thing stinks! I like to see what codes have been accepted, but now you just hear a beep.

4. BTW, I like to use the Gian Speeder on all speeder levels except the first. Even on the second level, I replace the Stap with the Gian -- the twin cannons seem to do better in taking out the droid Staps, and the big laser shoots fast and can take out the tanks pretty well--at least you don't have a limited # of missiles like the regular speeder & stap.

5. What bothers me is the handling & weapons of the N-1. With the passcode to unlock all side vehicles, I use it rather than the training vehicle. But unlike the Naboo in RS, this one is slow, weak, and cumbersome! AHHHHHH! I want some weapons upgrades pronto! And I want the same control and handling as in RS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find the 'Lives Left' feature to be exceedingly annoying too. And the scrolling code thing, too. The whole interface seems like a console game!

That's exactly the problem---unlike RS, they didn't adapt BfN interface or controls to the PC version very well at all.
