I got this little interview from theforce.net...

The Rogue Leader Experience

ThePete sends us his reaction to playing Rogue Leader:

I was at E3 and waited in line for about an hour to play Rogue Squadron II and boy was it worth it! The game was inches from looking like you're *in* the movie. Only three levels were playable, one of which was the Death Star Battle (AKA The Battle Of Yavin). It rocked - the first thing I saw was the surface of the Death Star with seemingly hundreds of green laser bolts flying in all directions. The game play was very impressive - it controlled much like RS1, but because everything looked and sounded so much more realistic, it was an infinitely superior experience.

A few nice additions make gameplay even more fun - first off you can look around inside the cockpit. This is nice for obvious reasons (get your orientation and keep up your visual scanning for enemy craft!). The other addition is an infrared targeting screen that helps you spot what you are supposed to kill (Those Tie-Fighters are almost invisible against a star field AND the Death Star!).

I managed to get all the way to the Death Star where I started to flash back to the 80s line-art Star Wars game - I always loved that game for it's gameplay but not its graphics - combine the gameplay of the 80s SW game with kick-butt graphics & sound and you get an awesome experience. I managed to get all the way to the exhaust port only to have my blasters and proton torpedos fail on me. I don't know if that was a limitation of the demo I was playing or if it was part of the game. Either way, I came away from the screen with my heart pounding and my hands shaking. I'll be buying a Nintendo Game Cube in Novemeber JUST for this game...

I might just do the same!

Redwing, do you know whether/when they'll port RSII over to PC? Also, would the realistic graphics be the same if they did? Man, it sounds awesome!

they won't. we all know that. it's a 'console' game they probably won't bother. get a cube, it'll be worth your $200.

it isn't cost effective to produce for a PC if the Console market is open to the game, all Console of that model are exactly the same making it far easier to build a game that will work bug free for everyone.

I suppose no one has even HEARD that Starfighter is being released for PC. Judging from that, more than likely Rogue Leader will also eventually come to PC.
