I'll solve this. I just added a filter for my engine that removes the residue immediately after it is released.

There. Happy now

Tie Guy, are you serious??? SW ships MOVE by emitting ions from their engines at a fast rate! That "residue" is what makes your ship move!! The filter you just installed has now taken away your ship's capacity for forward movement! biggrin.gif

It still emitts it , it is just filtered after coming out. That way you still get the propulsion but not the residue. It's like filtering the air that comes out of a jet engine, which can be done.

I think my first mistake was reading this thread.

Should have paid attention to the title of it!

Yes, you control soldiers and you run around blowing stuff up.

That made exactly NO sense. What's it filtered into? Something has to get OUT forcefully to provide propulsion. And this is space not atmosphere. Honestly, TG, why do you keep making up phony technology? It's getting rather annoying figuring out the flaws in non-existent technology tongue.gif

(And please explain your jet engine filter comment, I don't see how it's possible)

This is getting rather nuts, huh biggrin.gif

Nuts? You must mean the starship engine the size of a walnut Scotty was talking about in trhe original Star Trek...

Well, I don't think that was an ion engine. wink.gif My horse would like to buy a vowel.

What? smile.gif

I't's all non-existant, this isn't real.

Plus, i already said that they could do it in jets, why not in much more advanced technology?

I may have made it up, but it is still possible. Sure, it would reduce speed, but it's worth it. I'd draw you a picture if i had a decent scanner. (well...maybe not, but i could) biggrin.gif

Here's how it would work: About a second after coming out of the engine it is funneled back through a tube which immediately slows and disperses the already uselss ions. (if it didn't slow them it would create immense strain on the support of the tube.) It collects the ions in a small tank where it ejects them at the end of flight or when it is full in one big mass of ions. Thus, this mass not only makes the ships course almost completely untrackable, but also serves to didrupt other forms of sensors in the immediate area.

There. Let's just end this, biggrin.gif

You still have no propulaion. That might work in atmosphere because the ions would push air, but in the vacuum of space that won't work as the ions are pushing on nothing. In fact you would be propelled with great force away from the tube you put on. biggrin.gif

Redwing, it sits behind the engine with space inbetween. Only the intial burst actually pushes the ship. After that, the ions are useless as they just float in space. That's why i said "the already useless ions." This catches them after that intial push. I wish i had a picture to show you...but i don't.

In any case, the tank would have to be many times bigger than the Defender for even a two minute flight because of the amount of ion residue. (The ion emissions are "engine glow") Also ions would still get out unless they were actively sucked in. Making the device even bigger.

I said when it got full it dispensed it.

Anyways, it may not collect every single ion, but it would collect enought to make them undetectable.

It would have to dispense every few seconds if you expect to get off the ground biggrin.gif

What's wrong with that, you still couldn't track where i was, just where i've been. Plus, to get off the ground it would use repulsors.
