Guest Lujayne
Originally posted by Death: really? Like what? Well, the biggest change is Arwen's role. In the book she had one line. She is mentioned a couple of times, and makes an appearence at the feast at Elrond's house, but we don't actually get to meet her at all until the very end of the book, where she has her one line. But in the movie... Arwen has a very prominent role, she is a warrior princess, to coin a phrase. She is in a lot places, doing a lot of things that she never did! For example, she takes over Glorfindel's role. Remember at the Fords before Rivendell, he rescues Frodo from the Black Riders? Well, in the movie he doesn't exist, and it's Arwen (complete with battle scars) who comes to the hobbit's rescue. Some people even say that Arwen actually becomes a member of the Company, but I can't believe any director would do something so stupid. It would completely change the dynamic of the story.
