Guest Rogue Veteran
Hi, I am new to this forum, asking for help. I have Windows 2000, and trying to run RS. I have managed to create player profiles, but now RS does not recognise my joystick. I have tried 3 different joystick, nada. In windows and in start window of game I see the joystic, but when I get into the game, the joystick does not work. Back ground: W2K, on P4, DirectX 8, also tried 7.0, same problem. Othe games run fine and joystick is working. Any hints/suggestions anyone? Thanks.

Guest Rogue Veteran
I am very sad. I've been playing RS under W98 for a while. I was not aware of this forum. Got sick of W98 crashing and I decided to move to W2K, but RS does not work. I would like to make it work, since W2K is my prefered system. Guest Rogue Veteran
Yes, I have tried WinMe, it works fine. But if I can get RS to run under W2K, I will be much happier. I appreciate any help/hints. RV.

Guest Wraith 5
Windows ME and Windows 2000 are based on Windows NT and do not go well with games. It is made for a network and not for games. I should know.... at our school we have NT and you can not play games on it.... ------------------ Your the victim of Kell Tainer.
Guest Rogue9
Windows ME is not based on NT which is Why RS works Windows 2k on the other hand is based on it....which is why many games refuse to function at all with it.
Guest edlib
Yeah, ME is DOS-based, even though it tries REAL hard to cover up it's roots, so-to-speak. Win2K was intended for the corporate/ business environment, so no consideration was ever made for entertainment or mutimedia on it. One of the reasons it's a bit more stable than other Microsoft platforms. Your current joystick problem arises from this... 2000 was intended for places where you'd be fired for playing a game. There are workarounds, but it will never be as easy to install a game and get running like 95/ 98. There will always be that extra couple of steps to get started. The new OS, WinXP, is supposed to be the 'best-of-both-worlds' in terms of stability and entertainment. We'll see, we'll see...
