Guest Lynk Former
The reason why I don't know how to do anything with Photoshop 6.0 is that I've been using a combonation of Microsoft Paint and ACDSee picture editor to modify and create pics... so as you can see I'm switching to very basic programs to a proffesional one over night... Hmmmmmmmmm... I shoulda prepared myself for the confusion I would be going through... but I did figure out what the magic wand can do today ^_^ ------------------

Guest S1DC
Anyone here have a career in graphics? Ok, i can help now. so, here are my "beginers" tips. LAYERS: Make sure you have a solid backround layer with no images on it, place ALL of your images and art on sperate layers. This function makes the undo button obsolete, and you can change whole graphics up in a few minutes with ease. EFFECTS: Most effects are lame by themselfs, but combined effects often create great graphics. Even if they look cool, try to use them sparingly, and keep in mind the most complicated effects, with all kinds of sensitive options, provide the best results. WAND TOOL: lame tool. i almost never use it. You are better off zooming to 300%/500% and manualy cutting out your images or slecting masks. the TAB key: When working on images large images that the paint tools cover, maximize the image, select the tool you want to use, and then press "TAB". this makes all the little tool windows disapear, so you can see all of your image. Just press "TAB" again to bring all the tool bars back. I'll give four more tips later. ------------------ Saber One Kyougu Issanni Need a unique signature? Guest Lynk Former
Damn I need some coffee!... uh i mean, Damn that's some good advice... No really it is... I've been using the wand too much and i've only recently started zooming in and doing things manually... ------------------
Guest S1DC
I learned all of this myself. My dad has worked in the printing industry for years, and i have had access to professional programs for a long time. Hmmm... more advice. LAYER FILTER: On the layers bar is a little drop down box which is set by default to "normal". This little box, if you click on it, will give you several other options concerning how a layer behaves on top of other layers. Option such as color burn, color dodge, color, luminosity, etc. These often will give some excellent effects. OPACITY: I know, i know, everyone knows how to use this. Just make sure you use it well, and use it often. The difference between a work of art and a microsoft paint image is often the transparency effects, and how subtle or bold they are. Keep in mind you will always notice the transparency, but other people who did not create the image may not be so keen on the near invisible image. This can help and hinder you... so be careful. GEOMETRY/POSTIONING: All stand alone images must have these four components: Top and bottom edge images, left and right side iamges, Background/Foreground, and a focal point. You can on occasion make one of these items serve as two, such as a focal point image serveing also as the foreground image, but try and think about what is what. You can omit the "border" images (left right top bottom), but try and have some items running off the sides, like the BG. Keep in mind, this applies to stand alone images (Which i like to call Static Images) more than in images you will use often for all sorts of things, like logos (Non-static Images). Please note, i am not an english major and do not ever plan to be. As for any spelling mistakes, blame them on Wraiths influence on me. ------------------ Saber One Kyougu Issanni Need a unique signature?
