Well, I must admit the AOK engine is sort of limiting by today's standards. But Empire Earth isn't as good as most will tell you at first.

yeah i own a copy of empire earth. I bought it as soon as it came out. Its a great game but all the stuff they got in this game they were planning to use on Age of Mythology, so these guys kinda beat ensemble studios to the punch and got their game on the market first. Its definitely the best RTS out htere and will be the standard by which all others are judged...but even it has some flaws to it. I never played it online but i played the comp with some cpu allies and i noticed a system of trade was non existent... i.e. trade ships that sent goods to you ally...and a market that let you trade for resources you are low on...if im wrong on this please point this out, but mostly all i noticed were military buildings and hospitals and such. Also i have already stated before that the unit cap is 700 period so that's kind of a step back from what the norm was of 200 per side with 8 sides. So dont get me wrong it was a great game but even it has chinks in its armor..the same with the aok's engine...not everything is gonna be picture perfect but for some reason everyone in the world is holding hte AOK engine accountalbe for every little shortcoming, but at the same time saying nothing about other 2d rts engines that really suck ass..like C&C2 and Red Alert2!
