dazilla
Ushgarak, you mentioned that lightning may be a sith thing, while in the Thrawn Trilogy Joruus C'Baoth used it even though he wasn't a Sith. Also, I think that lightning if it is just an application of telekinesis (moving electrons really, really fast), then it shouldn't be simply a dark side power, although it may be out of the question for light jedi to use because of the method of death. I think that Kyle probably doesn't think much of the Jedi tradition as it is, so he can use force lightning even for good purposes. It makes sense that way...that it's only tradition and rule that light jedi didn't use it. Personally, i think that if a bunch of people were being tortured by stormtroopers say being killed off execution style, or having their limbs shot off, i would definitely fry them with lightning, simply because it would be the quickest solution. There wouldn't be much difference to hacking them to pieces with a lightsaber. Oh, and whoever said that you don't bleed from a lightsaber, it's because it instantly cauterizes the wound and so it stops the blood. Read the Thrawn trilogy, when Luke and Mara go to save what's his name, that smuggler...don't remember the name, neway, Thrawn mentiones looking for a wound that is cauterized. (He also mentiones a few millimeter thick, which suggests that the beam emits much more light and so appears much thicker than the cutting action really does.) Ushgarak
You have to remember that the books are not canonical. As far as GL is concerned, Joruus does not exist. It is entirely possible that the films will make it out to be a Dark Side only thing- this will be very implicit if no jedi ever uses it. In which case the books are no good as a source.
