qyjong
Hi, I'm a big fan of RTS games and played dozens of them to date. I was wondering why the developers chose the AOE engine for this particular game? In my opinion by far the Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 series engine totally outranks AOE. Why didn't the developers team up with the guys from Westwood to do this? The graphics are stunning and gameplay is so smooth in C&C. The AOE engine is more like stick figures going at it. I'm just wondering. Hope I didn't step on anyones toes about this. Please reply if you want....
Influenza
No one really knows. I'd imagine it has to do with easy modification; also, the style of RA2 wouldn't fit well with Star Wars. One unit built at a time? Lame. In a universe where fighters and troops are mass-produced constantly, that wouldn't fly at all. I'm not too pleased with the AoK engine myself... the Total Annihilation engine far outdoes it, as does several other engines. I wouldn't say RA2 does, though; lots of little limitations that make big complications for designers. Just mah opinion.

qyjong
ok maybe the limitation for C&C isn't so broad but you have to give some credit for the graphics and smooth gameplay. It has this feel of playing with animated cartoons very well drawn. I just think with a little ingenuity, they could've pumped C&C engine up a little bit and made GB with the C&C engine. It's not like the AOE engines graphic does any better. Oh well...enjoy my avatars...
