TarzanBoy
Hey guys. I have been having similar problems with my jk2gamex86.dll file (JK2S.exe causes an invalid page fault in that file when I have my crash problems). It only seems to happen to me with special NPC's (first crashed when i was about to fight Desaan). I got a savegame file from someone and I had the same crash when I walked into the room with Luke Skywalker. In any case, i thought that my file might be corrupt, so I checked the filesize of JK2S.exe (999,482 bytes) and of my jk2gamex86.dll file (1,318,912 bytes) with the files a friend of mine had (he doesn't have crashes at all). The file sizes matched exactly, so that wasn't the source of my problem. What are your file-sizes? I bet they match mine. I think the crashes you are having are due to bad code rather than corrupt files.
Ayr
Heya friend. Yup, same file size, so you are right, it's not a corrupted file, but some sort of twisted system error. I've ben reading thorugh the forum for the last half an hour, trying to identify what the problem is. No luck so far. Everyone seems to have the suond lock-up problem, but for me it won't even load the single-player game, not even he intro movie. The multi works perfectly tho. Oh, well, back to tweaking setting
TarzanBoy
what setup do you have? Processor, processor speed, OS, Video Card, Video Card drivers, Direct X version, amount of RAM, sound card?
Ayr
Duron@750, DX 7.1, Win 98, GeForce 2 MX 28.32, 256 MB RAM, AC97 on-board sound. Never had the least problem with any Q3-based game. Tried re-installing, defragging, tweaking options in all combos from lowest to highest, re-installed NVidia drivers 3 different times, got new Via 4in1, nothing worked. Multiplayer works fine, I was able to connect to several games (and got my butt kicked, i don't even know how to use the forces lol), but singleplayer won't start. At all. Not even once, so I can dream about the intro movie at least.
Ayr
Okay, just re-installed Mohaa and RtCW, both work perfectly. Now, when i hit the Start button in singleplayer, the load screen comes up, then it crashes. I close the crashed game, but the pop-up console is still there, and it says: Initialising some memory blah blah ........ //performs a lot of init operations ........ Initializing Shaders LoadLibrary("D:\Games\JKII\GameData/jk2gamex86.dll") failed ...reason: 'A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. Shutting down This is the error I got each and every time. I find it strange that it's /jk2gamex86.dll, instead of \jk2gamex86.dll. Could they be so absymally stupid to place a / instead of \ in their start-up files ?
Ayr
Even more interesting, here's what it says at the very beginning of the console log: K2: v1.02a win-x86 Mar 4 2002 Initialising zone memory ..... ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: D:\Games\JKII\GameData\base\assets1.pk3 (8011 files) D:\Games\JKII\GameData\base\assets0.pk3 (6674 files) D:\Games\JKII\GameData/base ---------------------- 14685 files in pk3 files execing default.cfg execing jk2config.cfg couldn't exec autoexec.cfg .... and it goes on to crash, because it couldn't load a file that is located in the base directory. Now, if only I could find some way to change the search path, it might just work.....I hope.

I and most likely most of the people will not be sending out any files, because this helps make pirating more difficult. If you are legit, Lucasarts will replace the bad CD. TarzanBoy
First of all, I AM NOT ENDORSING THE PIRATING OF ANY SOFTWARE IN ANY WAY OR MANNER I and most likely most of the people will not be sending out any files, because this helps make pirating more difficult No intentional disrespect meant to the poster, but you're just blowing smoke. A 1MB dll file is *hardly* going to aid anyone trying to do anything illegitimate. At last check, my JKO folder was over 631MB. If he were asking for one of the executables then that would be a different matter, but he just needs a dll file which he thinks is corrupted (i bet it isn't). I agree that he should contact LucasArts and have his CD replaced. In the meantime, i don't think his request is ridiculous at all. Its no secret that there *are* serious problems with the game, some obviously relating to this dll file (if you don't believe me, then read this forum some more). I think he is justified in asking for help. Again, no intentional disrespect intended, but as of yet Raven hasn't seemingly stepped up and even officially recognized that there is an issue, much less made any visible attempts to remedy the situation. Until that happens, I say take help where you can find it. And again.... I AM NOT ENDORSING THE PIRATING OF ANY SOFTWARE IN ANY WAY OR MANNER ANYWHERE
