I can't get the game to load whatsoever

I've managed to get the game to install fine, but i can't acutally play. When i click on 'play single player' or whatever it says on the launcher, the consol thing comes up, then disapears about 2 seconds later and i get a box that reads 'Error', along with an ok button, but nothing else.

I'm running on XP (unfortuantly), P3 750 processor, Gefoce 2 MX400 video card (64mb video ram) with fully up to date drivers, 500mb of ram on the acutal computer.

Please help me guys, i've been waiting for this game since i heard about it and i'd hate to think i've wasted £30 on it

(by the way it works fine on my dad's computer, but it won't work on mine)

If you can play the MP game then you need to check out my other thread.

 

It's more likely than not related to the Copy Protection on the disk.

 

Unfortunately, you need a second drive to install the game and it needs to be either a CDRW or a DVD drive as standard CD drives seem to be crapping out in the install of the SP game for some freaky reason.

Na I can't get into Multi-Player either, it does the same thing

JK_Falcon, don't know if you got it but I sent you a private message. It might help. Basically, it's help for those you can install the game but can't play it.

Yea i got it thanks, unfortuantly the CD-crack didn't work, and replacing the .exe is impossible cause it's a .ace file, whatever that is, so i've got no way i've doing it

The .ace format is use with WinAce, a utility just like WinZip. It's free and downloadable off the net:

I managed to get a screen dump of the consol just before it crashes, this is what it says:

At that point it crashes and i get the dialog box that says 'Error' and has an ok button, but nothing else

I have the same problem that you have...I had the trouble of not getting the game to load. It would enter the console mode and come up with a CON.TXT error or a unable to load default.cfg. The game installs just fine but it refuses to load. I finally can get it past the console screen, but it loads and then the screen goes white with a error message. I cant get single player or multi-player to work. It is not the CD itself becasue that wokr s finer on my roommates computer and my roommate also bought JO and the game does the same problem on mine. The odd thing is I can play the single player if I load the game straight off the CD itself. cant save the game but its great for those JO fixes. IF someone has any answers I would greatly appricaite it.

I tryed running it stright off the cd, no luck.

ah well, least i ain't the only one that can't play it
