How to switch saber-stances???

I thought all the time that the stances just would grow on you like the other force powers, but now im back at the academy and my stance is gone back to fast.

can I manually change stances, if so how?

or does the game that on its self, and i can do nothing

The default key is 'L'

 

and the actual stance is either shown in Kyle's positur holding the saber or in the lower right by colored bars (opposite of force-bar;.yellow, blue, red)
