Guest IceWind
didn't notice at first, but now its really starting to annoy me. When I look around with my mouse, the textures on the wall seem to "warp" or "shift" out of place. They dont' actually change, but there are these weird lines that appear that makes the walls or whatever im loooking at seem to "shift" its really apparent when I look at lights. Its only when I move around. Im running Windows XP on Dets 23.11's Has anyone seem to have this problem and try anything to fix it. i've tried different resolutions and filtering but nothing has helped. Tried V-Syn as well, doesn't help either. Running it on VisionTek GF3.
grantnin
Yep I have the exact same problem, not just in JKII but in all quake 3 engine (possible all openGL, have yet to test) games. I've tried everything, including changing refresh rates, vsync settings, fps limiters, drivers. I had the same problem with my geforce 2 as with my current geforce 3 Ti 200. However, my friend has almost the exact same hardware and software config as me (same mobo, sound card, graphics card, OS, drivers, everything) except the processor. His is an Athlon XP and mine is a 200Mhz FSB Athlon 1gig. I've tried disabling the use of 3D Now! but no change. The only thing left to try is win 98. I'll post if it works OK with that. If anyone can help I'd be most grateful. My config is: IWILL KK266+R mobo AMD Athlon 1Ghz 200Mhz FSB ABIT Geforce 3 Ti 200 SB Audigy Win XP latest 4in1s, Detonators, and WDM sound drivers, though have tried with older version with no positive result. pmccool
Hey guys, I had the exact same problem as you. I have a Geforce 3 with the 23.11 Dets, 1.4Gig AMD with an Asus A7M266 board running winxp pro. I was poking around in the bios and switched the AGP compression from AUTO to BYPASS. I have no clue what this does but I was getting desperate and was willing to mess with anything in an attempt to fix the problem. Believe it or not this worked for me. No more flashing or out of place textures. Give it a try.
Guest IceWind
I think this game is just poorely developed for people with GF3's and thats really sad. I suggest you get working on patch Raven:mad:
grantnin
Icewind, as I explained in my post, it's not just a geforce 3 issue, or even just a JK2 issue - I don't think it's Raven's fault so much as Id's, the OpenGL people, or indeed our own. As for the AGP compression - I don't have that setting in my BIOS, but thanks anyway pmccool.
Obsol337
I think i know what you mean. I seem to get little black lines/dots when looking at the end of a piece of ground/wall/whatever. Its nothing major. I have a Riva TNT2 pIII processor (Athlon) with Windows 98 and I havent noticed any walls warping or anything like that. I think thats a problem with your OS but Im not a techie so I dont really know
grantnin
So I made it a lot less noticeable (gone or almost gone - at least now I can't tell if I'm imagining it). First I set the refresh rate ingame using r_displayrefresh 75, vid_restart Next I turned ON vsync, using 2 frames rendered ahead (I set that using nvmax), which produced the best results. pmccool
Turns out it wasn't AGP compression but AGP compensation...go fig.
