Font/HUD problem with V4

Hi all.

I'm extremley please with JK2's performance on my main computer, getting between 30-40 fps in 640x480 w/ 2x fsaa, but it's got an Nvidia card, so thats to be expected :D

My old main computer tho is a different story. Here are it's specs:

Win2000 Pro

Soyo 6BA+ (440bx chipset)

Celeron 433@488 (wimpy o/c, huh?)

256 MB RAM

SBLive!

and worst of all,

Voodoo4 4500

Now the problem is i can get into the game and play it, it runs decently (20-30 fps in 640) but the HUD/interface is all screwed up. The effect is tough to describe but it's as though all the graphics for the hud were streched out a little bit. It makes reading numbers extreme difficult, so i never know when to run, it makes assigning force powers impossible. It does it throught the whole game, meaning the menuing system is all screwed up.

Heres what I've done so far. After installing the game and running it, it would just dump to the desktop with distored screen geometry and gamma settings. After some tweaking, i discovered that turning OFF gl extensions in the vid config section would fix the interface/HUD problem, but i still couldn't play. I then read that post that explains why wickedGL wasn't working (i had installed it to the root dir of JK, which that post explains doesn't help at all) so i moved the gl_hres.dll or whatever into the correct directory and fired it up. My heart sank when the interface was still screwed up, but now i could actually get into the game (the rendering/playing part that is). The first thing i did was to change moniter drivers, as that had fixed a similar problem in Empire Earth. Windows didn't have a driver for this specific moniter (it's a POS) but i did use a more accurate one as the resolution and refresh rate numbers matched. That didn't fix it so i tried a few other but eventually gave up hope. Then I started changing video drivers. I tried the official ones and just about every 3rd party driver, and nothing worked except the official drivers wouldn't run it at all. Now i'm out of ideas.

Please anyone with some insight help me. I'm despearate. LAN playing is much better than net gaming, but that's compounded by the low quality/quanity of the JK2 servers right now. I've been spoiled for having <10 pings :D If you see someone named PARSE in blue say hello

Cheers
