MightyPez
It took so much research and testing, but I figured out how to fix the problem many of use are having with people being dropped from our servers randomly. For completeness, I have only done this on a linksys BEFSR11 router, so I don't know if it will work with other routers. First off, most of us set the server as the DMZ in our routers, mainly because this is the easiest thing t0 do. Well, unfortunately linksys sucks at using DMZ, so that is a big no-no. Your best bet is to use Forwarding in the router settings. So in my router I go to "forwarding", enter the IP I want forwarded, make sure it is using TCP and UDP. then i specify the range of ports i want open (ex. 28060-28081 or whatever). I apply the settings, and voila, random drops are over. I am still having a few problems however. One, I can't play in a game myself because I time out, this may be due to me connecting over the external IP or using the default port. the second issue is I can't seem to send a heartbeat to the raven master jk2 server (masterjk2.ravensoft.com), so the sever will never get any hits. I'll keep updating when i get more info.
UberJedi727
you call that fixed? lol hehe.. I share your frustration. I seem to be getting a lot of random "parse" drops as well. All I can say now is.. BRING ON THE PATCH!
MightyPez
I call it fixed because peopleno longer get dropped. Like i said, this isn't a JK2 only problem, the exact same thing happens with Half-Life and Quake 3.
