einsig
OK, I was sifting through some of the posts about issues with JK2 and the Voodoo3/5 line of graphics cards. I just want to post this as I was having some issues that others haven't mentioned, but were fixed with the Wicked GL app/drivers. Basically the retail 3DFX mini-GL drivers are crap and don't work well with JK2. I was having the following issues: 1. No yellow scrolling text at the start of a new game. 2. Mon Mothma's image in the first cutscene would change to a texture of an in-game button/computer panel. This would change when she would speak. When Kyle or Jan were speaking the image was correct. 3. The load/save screen would lag horribly with skipping audio and a very jumpy cursor. This would occur only when accessing the screens when another game was in session. 4. The preview image of a saved/loaded game would show either Mon Mothma's texture from the 1st cut scene (upside down) or the last frame from when I clicked out of the Lucas Arts/Raven/etc intro. 5. Re-loading a game after dying or simply loading a saved game whle another game was in session didn't work. It always got 1/4 of the way loading and would crash. 6. In multi-player all text was garbled and unreadable. The session ran well, but you couldn't read the menus at all. All of these issues have been solved with the installation of the WickedGL drivers. You simply need to rename the "jk2sp.exe" and jk2mp.exe" files to "quake3.exe". Then have WickedGL look for Quake3 in the jk2 dir and install the drivers. Rename the files to their original designation and you are good to go. Some people may have their sky texture disappear. To fix this simply open the console in-game. Enter "seta r_fastsky "0" and hit enter. Then type vid_restart and hit enter. The game will close and restart. Looks like the game crashed, but it will come back to where you left off. Viola! The sky has returned. Props to the Wicked GL team (http://www.wicked3d.com)and the users on this forum for suggesting this fix.

LightningBaron
are u using them right tho? after installing the Wicked GL programing you will need to open its cfg (C:\Program Files\Metabyte\WickedGL\wglgames.cfg) and add the following lines to the list of games "Jedi Knight 2 MP",jk2mp.exe,opengl32.dll "Jedi Knight 2 SP",jk2sp.exe,opengl32.dll and run Wicked GL and install it to the multiplayer and singleplayer exe's. just check out the "will JK2 run on a V5500" thread, its all covered in there, and its worked for alt of people [edit] oh, and get the latest x3dfx drivers from http://www.x3dfx.com
