RedWolf4000
Hey, my computer is as follows: 1ghz AMD Athlon, 256mb pc133 ram, and a Radeon 7200 64meg (AGP slot). I run the game in 1024x768. i leave the details high, but i have to lower shadowing effects, AND, to run the game pretty smooth i actually have to bump down to 16-bit color which really bites. My computer has to be able to do better then this.. when in 1 player, i enter a room with 5 or more storm troopers i only get like 20 fps, sometimes less! Is there any optimization i can do for my card? any suggestions??
Immortal LuD
For one, your processor isn't that powerful, so when more polygons appear on the screen, you're going to see a drop in framerate... But I would most likely blame that situation on your video card... I really don't think there's anything to be said about the Radeon 7200... It's just a piece of junk. The only thing I could see you doing, to actually SEE a difference, is to raise the core and memory speeds of the card up a notch. But even then, I doubt it would help. How are your framerates otherwise?
Smitty
With such a pityful configuration what would you expect? I mean, come on, only a 1ghz processor? What kind of uber-geek are you?! You should have bought a 2.0 or 2.1 ghz machine the day it came out! What is wrong with you anyway? And this deal with only 256MB of memory... what is the deal with that? Don't you want to run something other than the OS? And finally, what a crap video card you have. Unless you spend $400 you ain't got ****. Unless you can cough up enough $$$ or your parents can (if that even applies) , then you should just sit quietly and play the game at 640x480, turn everthing off until you are playing with stick figures, and stay off the boards while us folks with real machines can compare sizes! Thank you.
JaNg0
That's really helpfull isn't it Smitty?? Can you be any more of an A$$... Ever thought that maybe some people aren't such spoiled little brats like you.. Some just can't afford uber rigs because they live in real world sport..Alot of us have mortgages, rent, loans and such which by the way come first over upgrading our computers..When you decide to finally remove your mouth from mommy's breast you might just figure this one out You are dismissed.. Smitty
JaNg0, Easy now... Did not mean to offend. I guess you could not see my tongue firmly imbedded in my cheek. My reply was based upon the fact that everyone is uptight because the JO does not run like a banshee on their gigahertz processors with megs'o memory, etc. And I assume that there are plenty of other people who are just trying to make do with what they have.... Oh, btw, my specs: P3 500Mhz 384MB Ram 16MB Riva TNT card etc. And uh... 38 years old, four kids, wife, dog, mortgage, car payments, and partridge in a pear tree. (the last one is false Oh, I forgot to mention. JO runs okay for me at 800x600 med/low textures, etc. Yes, FPS drops heavy sometimes, but what can I say, have to save up for kids college. So computer purchases are on a strict 3 year schedule. See ya
Immortal LuD
Oh damn, I thought my post was going to sound a bit mean, I guess I don't have to worry about that now... Anywho, the best way you can improve your performance, is to buy another 256MB of RAM, and a video card... The choice is up to you, but if you're low on cash, the Radeon 8500 will definately get the job done...
JaNg0
See, that's better.. If there is a person in the world that can detect an ounce of humour or "tongue and cheek" in your reply then I will be impressed.. With your second post you can tell there is some.. With the simple addition of smiles and winking smileys along with your text goes along way in helping us figure out your intent.. I apologize for my tone Smitty, *extends hand* Talk to you later my friend..
