Colonel O'Neill
DONT GET RID OF YOUR CARD JUST TO PLAY NEW Q3 BASED GAMES Download wickedgl (http://www.wickedgl.com) Rename the desired game exe, (the one using a Q3 engine e.g jedi knight 2 would be jk2sp or jk2mp) as quake3.exe run wicked gl and have it find quake 3 in youre desired directory and patch it. Voila problem solved. I have done this on JK2 and everything is fine. Saves load, game loads suprisingly fast now and the vids work. I'd like to thak raven for not pointing this out earlier im not sure this will work on XP tho!

RigelUK
Great tip! Just to add to what you said: If you want add support for Jedi Knight 2 without having to rename files just add the following lines to wglgames.cfg file in the WickedGL directory... "Jedi Knight II SinglePlayer",jk2sp.exe,opengl32.dll "Jedi Knight II MultiPlayer",jk2mp.exe,opengl32.dll ...then locate the JK2 directory and install for both singleplayer and multiplayer. Klown
didnt work for me either... still have my probs (no movies, reloading savegames after death lockups). the only noticable thing it did was change my graphics settings from medium to high
rcraven
Well, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having troubles. I have a Voodoo 3 3000 and I've had weird problems playing movies, menu slowdowns after playing for a while, freezeups loading games after playing for a while, and this really weird error I keep getting during multiplayer: Z_Malloc(): Failed to alloc 472628 bytes (TAG_TEMP_WORKSPACE) !!!!! ctiggerrun
I have a voodoo 3 as well, all I've done to fix my issues so far was install the no-cd fix.

Thrawn05
I won't turn in my Voodoo only because it works well with all the other QUAKE games out there. Why should this be any different. I'm not going to waste $200 on video card for one game.
HC - Exar Kun
Damn straight... When 3dfx got bought out by NVIDIA ( FU! NVIDIA U NO SUPPORTIN BASTARDS ) We lost the best in 3D video cards and also support.... Any anybody who says 3dfx sucks doesn't know what the hell thier talking about... because my voodoo all seems to play this and every other new game with MINIMAL problems... All the Geforce users out there seem to have to download nearly 50mb a week...and restart systems and get drivers... just to play a game once or twice.... Not many problems with ATI lately though... They're the only STABLE manufacturer left..... Sorry ppl !
Thrawn05
I agree. nVidia (and I'm sure of this now) was supposed to continue to support current 3dfx video cards. I guess they bought their way out of that one. I have a half a mine to return JK2, uses that money to buy an ATI, and wait a year. That way, JK2 will have enough patchs to consider it a worthy release.

LightningBaron
oh, and for those who cant be arsed to check out that post (its always in the top 3 of this forum and has alot better help) go to: http://www.x3dfx.com and get the latest drivers from there, its basically the 3dfx company carrying on support (but under a dif name because 3dfx belongs to nvida)
