Jedi Polliwog
Will a GeForce2™ MX200 Video Card, PCI, 32MB be able to run JK2 smoothly? Or is it too old or feable to be able to perform that task? I will have 191MB of RAM on my computer when I start playing, by the way. I also am going to set the graphics on low. (By smoothly I mean will there be in-game (sp) lagging (if so, how much) and just plain how smooth the game will be.)
Immortal LuD
I would be surprised if Duke Nukem 3D will work on that piece of crap.
emorog
any GeForce card will work fine providing you don't over tax it. if the card has 32MB, then you'll most likely need to use medium quality textures. if your card has 64MB and your system has >512MB, then you can use highest. Jedi Polliwog
Well, I plan to use the one above (with 32MB) on low settings so I can load the levels quickly. That won't over tax it, right? It will be able to run the game smoothly, won't it?
JaNg0
What's your CPU speed?? If it's like sitting at around 600mhz I would venture a guess that that card would do ok, not set on the highest details but it would run.. If you upgrade your ram to a minimum of 256 that would help quite a bit too.. Just my thoughts don't hold it against me if it doesn't though.. Jedi Polliwog
I have a 466 MHz processor...
Jedi Polliwog
What if I got a GeForce2™ MX400 Video Card, PCI, 64MB? Sure, it's more money than I would like to spend, but if the other one requires at least 256MB of RAM, I'd buy it. Emorog, how sure are you? JaNg0 seems to think that it wouldn't work. I hope you are correct, though, Emorog, because your answer seems a lot more positive (and cheaper ) than his.
JaNg0
LOL, Polliwog sorry for the confusion.. I think the card will work "OK" but not the best with your current rig.. All I meant was if you buy that card and increase your ram, the ram would help the card out quite a bit.. Sorry for the confusion my friend.. Jedi Polliwog
Oh, okay! So, is 191mb of RAM not enough? Should I get a total 256MB? And what if I get GeForce2™ MX400 Video Card, PCI, 64MB? How much RAM should I add (if any) if I get that card?
JaNg0
Your current amount of ram will do for now.. They recommend 128 you have 192 so you are ok there.. If you get the 64meg card you should be alright.. You just won't beable to have it on the highest settings..
Jedi Polliwog
Okay, that sounds fine by me. Thanks for all your help, JaNg0.
