Frame Rate Issue

first off i liked to say JK2 is awsome and it's extremely fun, now for the tech stuff. my sys. specs. is:

HP 7915

1.1GHz

128mb ram

Geforce 2 mx400 64mb ram PCI

Sound Blaster 16-bit PCI

40GB HD

I have JK2 at nearly the highest settings, any of the 16/32 bit stuff i put at 16bit, and i experience low frame rate, now i switched to a lower settings and got similar frame rate (i get around 20-40fps outside by myself and 40-100+ inside by myself and it goes around the 10-30 fps when fighting)

i get almost the same fps at any of the setting lvl's. i know i only have 128mb but should i think about upgrading to 256mb. does any1 know if that would solve my fps problem.

Well, it seems like a lot of people are having similar issues.

Here's my specs

1.3ghz athalon

512 ram

GF2 mx 32mb

I get almost the same framerates as you (maybe a little higher).

Also, you probably don't want to just run out and buy a new video card. I did - I bought a GF4 64mb and it didn't improve my gameplay at all - very disappointing. If I were you, I'd double my ram and wait to see what patches are released. I'm thinking it's a software issue on raven's part. Here's hoping for an optimization patch.

It's the CPU guys. JK2 suffers the same fate as other modified Quake 3 engine games. Examples are RTCW and MOH:AA. Both are more CPU dependent than graphics card limited. Ever wonder why almost every developer is now looking into the latest build of the Unreal Engine to license? ;)

other worthwhile note, RAM is damn cheap, upgrade to 256MB if not 512MB, and if you run W2k or XP you might want to go for more, but not if you run a win 9x variant, its a pain to get it to correctly use more than 512MB of ram.
