It's slowing down alot for me on multiplayer, and I have a k-6 400 mhz pile o crap with a 32 mb xpert 128 card. To upgrade to a pentium 4 2.2gig i'd need to get a new mother board and im too lazy to have to install one, could i just fix my problem by buying a geforce 2 mx 400? I don't care if i have to run the details low as long as it can run smoothly in 8 player lightsaber battles.

Nope sorry my friend.. I have a k6-2 500 with 224 of ram and a ASUS v7100 GF2 mx and it doesn't help, plus the fact that I believe most Socket 7 mobos don't have a 2.0 compliant AGP slot, which you need to use the newer cards..I hummed and hahed for the longest time and decided not to eat for 2 months :D and ordered a Soyo Dragon+ xp1700 and CoolerMaster HSF combo and 256 DDR ram, so as soon as the goofy people at Canada Customs clear the package I will be set..

I think you will have the same problem..

LOL, yep sorry my friend.. Mine currently runs like a fat girl in mud :D that's why i won't even install the game.. I play CS and even in that old used up engine it slows down to a crawl, avg about 15 fps and when someone throws a smokegrenade I swear I hear my computer cough and say get the hell out of here you moron.. I have also tried RTCW and it wouldn't even post what FPS it was running at, text came up on the screen instead of the number it laughed at me, and it said you have got to be kidding me, ya dork, I can't post negative FPS...

And why not get a Soyo?? all the reviews I've read are more than favourable plus I spend alot of time over at amdmb.com and sure Soyo has some problems but it's the same as any mobo munufacturer there is always some bad apples in the bunch..

Built in LAN, and digital 5.1 onboard audio, that there saves me 200 dollars...

haha reviews. my friend i was once like u. all the mags point me in the right direction for my system specs. and what that get me! a blue screen of death for 90% of any game i tried to play. even HL. i base my opinion on what i know or have seen. ive come to the conclusion that mags r either paid off or just not caring. i have a soyo(a replacement board for my asus) its sucks.

think of it this way. they want to make money right? so of course ppl will false advertize and cheat u. most ppl do if they know u know nothing.(my moms first com was a 3500 dollar 486) my advice is research and figure out whats good or not. look at multile review on the same thing.

k that was long winded so i am going to shut up now. good luck though. and remember. u have only yourself to blame for your own **** ups. i know! i m blame myself everyday :)

Believe me, I have not just looked at one review I have indeed seen about 10-15 reviews on the board and they are all favourable.. If you got a dud I'm sorry you may have just got a bad board or maybe flash the bios to newer version.. Like I stated before I spend alot of time here http://www.amdmb.com/vb/index.php maybe you should look here before you buy stuff aswell.. You not only get reviews but you also get help from 31,000 registered users that will help you trouble shoot.. If you look Soyo boards aren't the only ones with problems Asus, Epox, Msi,Abit the list goes on they have problems too.. Every board maker you could think of has it's own forum there where people with that board help with stability issues or whatever...

I suggest that anyone with problems regarding mobos, video cards, Operating Systems go there to find help...

my friend plays cs and jk2 with a celeron 300 overclocked to 380 with 246 mb ram, hercules 3d prophet geforce 2 mx 400. he has no slow down besides lag. he runs on medium quality for the graphic and this vid card is not tweaked. his runs fine. his com was custom built by a friend of ours and it run sweet. less problems then mine.

LOL, the celeron cpu is totally different than the K6-2 chips.. Basically the K6-2 is the AMD version of the intel cyrix 6x86.. Believe me your games will not run smoothly on these chips..

If i wanted to upgrade from a 400 mhz amd k6-3 to a 1gig mhz duron and a geforce 2 400 mx what would be the cheapest most effective mother board to buy at my local shop? goto http://www.nanosys1.com to check out the mainboards and other prices there. Thank you...
