Wierd crashing bug - Please Help!

I'm having a really wierd crashing bug, and it's driving me nuts! The problem is, on the level where you fight Galak Fyarr, right after the cutscene where Kyle talks to Galak (after blowing up the shield generator), and it cuts back to the gameplay, the game just locks up and the sound loops from before the moment it locked up.

I've tried everything I can think of. Trying the latest video card drivers, downgrading my video card drivers, replaying the level, making sure I didn't have any mods installed, disabling the saber realistic combat cheat I had enabled, reinstalling the game, replaying the level after reinstalling, toying around with video card options, changing the windows desktop settings, and nothing seems to work. I have never had this problem on any Quake 3 engine game, and haven't had any problems at all playing either MP or SP before this, and I've played many hours since I bought the game. I know it's not a software problem because a friend was playing off of my copy, and he got past the point where I am (I had burned it for him at a lan party when we were going to play it).

I've run out of ideas, and was wondering if you guys could help me. My system specs are:

Nvidia GeForce 3 Ti200 (with the latest detonator drivers, 21.83, I think)

512 mb pc133 ram

AMD Duron 800 mhz processor

Monster Sound MX400 sound card

Microsoft Windows 98 operating system

If there's anything else you guys want to know, just ask. I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me with this problem (I wanna beat this game!) Thanks.

Let's bump this up again.

I'm having the same problem with specs completely different than yours...

WinXP

Radeon 8500

Sound Blaster Live 5.1

Our systems are different in everyway that seems important.

This would lead me to believe that is not a system problem, but truly a problem with the game.

Other people have made it past here, though, so I don't know.

Does anybody know a cheat code to skip just this part? I'm having much less fun now.

Hello,

I have figured out how to get past it on my machine...

Start up the game and before you load your save, go into options and set the graphic settings to the default "Fastest"(ie low everything) settings and apply.

Load up your game and watch or skip the cutscene.

I was able to continue without crashing.
