I've got some weird troubles..... Crashes and pauses..... During Playing Jediknigh

The problems are when i play and its been crashing more than just pausing at times. The crashes basically happen like this... Im playing the game and at different times the game freezes and the sound loops. While i try to do "Ctrl-Alt_del" or "Hit the start button on the keyboard" it goes to the desktop and the whole desktop looks like the Gamma or brightness is turned up extremely high. I have to reboot to clear the desktop. I noticed that when it freezes the hardrive light goes beserk... When all this starts the game stutters then the above happens. Sometimes When the freezing happens it subsides and it unfreezes and it can play again.

Whats going on?

Turn all your video options down and keep VOLUMETRIC SHADOWS and ANISOTROPIC FILTERING switched off, Switching off GL EXTENTIONS will help also but give you a framerate hit.

Try also keeping the desktop set at the same colour depth and resolution as the game that can sometimes stabilise Q3 based games - (I had to do that just to get MOH to run!)

Reading through many posts the other night I get the impression that the 28.32 drivers may not be that great so you might try the 27.70 drivers from nVidia as these have worked for me.

Best of luck.

I've been having the same crashing on loading levels. This is what I have had to do to play.

Before I start a single-player game, I disable my NIC (network card). I noticed that after a crash, I lost networking, and after some false starts, I finally found that disabling my NIC solved the map change crash.

Also, I checked my directx by starting the main menu, selecting Help, then selecting Analyze Your Computer. I then went to DirectX Diagnostics, and selected the Display tab at the top. I noticed that when I tested Direct3d, the diagnostic would hang on a white screen. I selected Install DirectX 8.0a, which would repair the system to where it would play the diagnostic with no errors.

Stick to Detonator version 21.83

Newer version are developped for GForce 3 and 4 ...

Even if they are supposed to be compatible,

they are not as stable for GForce 2 card.

Also you'll see in file TROUBLE.DOC with the game that RAVEN have develop the game using Nvidia driver v23.11

This is a common problem for GForce2 user (one game out of 10 have this problem using new driver on GForce 2 card)

It is best to use the latest nvidia drivers as they fix the infinite loop problem of before. This fixes 99% of blue screen crashes, and other crashes you may have. Also try to keep he color correction at off. I noticed this helps. The game still crashes but i can't help that. It crashes maybe once every hour or so. My best bet is it is because microsoft has yet to verify any new nvidia drivers. This being said, lets blame it all on microsoft.

ya thats why i think this is all happening because of that dam digital signature in xp and 2k pro

on 98 i dont have that many problems like mabye 1 or 2

but as for the newest drivers i dont think they are taht good for the geforce 2 vids cause i had the newset but it crashed a lot more often then when i went down to some older drivers and when i get home iam going to some a littel bit older to see if i cant fix this permently

my bad i forgot to mention. I am on a geforce3 ti200, but since the drivers are all of the same frame reference we still all in same dish. The latest drivers fix the infinite loop thing for my card for sure. But as i said, try messing around with your card settings. After i turned off color correction i haven't crashed for a long long while.

P3 550mhz

256megs Ram

Win XP Pro

Geforce 2 MX/400 w/Latest Detonator XP drivers.

Running @ 800x600 in 32bit without a hitch except for freezing/sound looping every 15-30mins, problem is reported as Nvidia_Disp.dll responsible. Changing Hunkmegs to 170 (2/3 of 256) seems to have bought me more time, but the crash is still inevitable.

I tried installing the 23.11 drivers and when attempting to run the game, it gives me the GL_Subsystem Error (or whatever that common GL error is called). How are people with a Geforce 2 running the game with the 23.11 drivers? When I download them from the Nvidia site, they are labeled "Stereo 3D" drivers or something to that effect. Am I downloading the correct drivers?

I have played the game with the 23.11 drivers and it gives me pretty poor performance. Stuttering of graphics it paused two or three times. When i try to play the game and run or something it stutters to the point of i might get killed??
