Very Frustrated

I just bought Jedi Outcast 3 days ago. I am becoming increasingly frustrated with it. The cursor on the menu screen is incredibly slow to move. Once I start the game it is fine, I run, I shoot, I jump, etc.... As soon as I die, I have to restart the game. If I try to tell it to start over from last saved point without restarting, it freezes the screen.

On multiplayer, I am not able to play at all. I tried to play on the Zone, but every time I tried to join a game, it would go through the entire loading sequence. As soon as it was 95% done it froze while saying "Accquiring Snapshot"

Basically, I am very frustrated that I seem to have wasted $50. I am just wondering if anyone has gone through this, and if anyone knows how to fix it. Thanks.

P.S. Sorry for the ranting.

BTW, I have looked at several of the other performance issue posts, but I am not very computer literate and therefore not able to tell from the system specs which one coincides with my problem.

unfortunatly it seems that either

A. your computer is too slow, or

B. your video card is too slow, or

C. you need to update your video card drivers.

double unfortunatly since you aren't the best with computers you probably dont know what i mean when i say the above ... and like you said you can't provide us with your computer specs :( study computers my friend its a great field!

i guess what you could try to do is go into OPTIONS and turn all the settings to the lowest possible. hopefully that will improve you gameply.

Thanks for the reply. :)

Would it give me enough information when I tell JK2 to "Analyze My Computer" ?

I actually managed to find where it listed that. Hehe. Well, here goes if this helps.

RAM 128 MB

O/S Windows 98

CPU 504

DirectX drivers 8.0

Display Adapter RAGE MOBILITY-PAGP (English)

Hard drive space C:\ 16950 MB

F:\ 551550976

I really would like to get this game working, it looks like an awesome game from the little bits I have played on Single Player. Thanks for the help, VERY much appreciated. :)

hmm. wlel it looks like your computer is barely qualifying for the minumum requirements. and the video card you have RAGE MOBILITY-PAGP isn't the best.

so it looks to me that your only solution for improved gameplay is to go into the SETUP menu in singleplayer and set the VIDEO SETUP to FASTEST. that should make things go MUCH faster!

that should solve your problems w/ freezing and stuff. do the same in multiplayer and you should be able to play. if MP still doesn't work, try using gamespy arcade or the built in server selection istead of the Zone.

try seeing if running the game in a window will help reduce any lag and stuff necessary for you to change the settings. Just edit your shortcut to read:

"C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\JediOutcast.exe" -w

this will enable it to run in a window and may help you be able to configure the game

I'm having the exact same problem Legolas.

I'm running a Celeron 433, 320 Mg's RAM and a Voodoo 3 3000.

Although I can run a multiplayer game, as soon as it finishes loading all text in the game turn to unreadable blocks.

It's actually pretty wierd. The saved games load properly the first time (albeit a bit slow) but if I try to reload the loading bar stops at a random point and will not move. Also, the game hasn't frozen since if I press esc the game goes back to the Main Menu.

The only solution is to restart the game and then load my saved game...which works every time.

Any help would be appreciated.

When waiting for a reload, hit escape, then retry to reload the level, I think whats happening, it sometimes the compuer it trying to clean up files and ram from the last run, while you've started loading and allocating stuff for the next, going back to the menu and reloading seems to give it the time to finnish clean up, though this is just a guess as to what's going on the code could just not be resetting variable correctly the first time or something else.
