SkataN Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 When you guys have something to say that is just rude, or that makes fun of someone else just don't say anything at all. <==== Golden Rule Yes, I admit to making a couple of rude comments on these forums, but I realize that it creates pointless debates and in some cases can actually upset people. Opinionating is fine. Not critisizing. If someone posts something, any tips/suggestions would be great. But telling people that their work sucks and to quit and other rude comments aren't ok. And if you guys have something to say to an individual because you have a problem with them, talk to them somewhere else than these forums. You guys don't ever see those Raven guys bringin people down. Use them as examples.
Aiee Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 SkataN -- While I aggree that the tone in these forums can become very childish at times, you have to remember that that is what a lot of the forumgoers are: children. FPS gamers are mainly prepubescent(sp?) or teenage males, and while I am well aware that they do not represent us all, a few immature users can usually drag the general tone down. In my experience, the best thign to do is just ignore the rude/immature posters (except when I'm bored and feel like mocking a troll ;]) and read another thread.
JRA_Wolf Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 I agree for the most part, but not all teenage posters are rude. I mean, I'm 16 (going on 17 this month) and I think I've been fairly nice
Jedi Child Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 lol, well i'm no Child, despite what the name says. I'm 21.
Immortal LuD Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 When you see a rude comment, all you do is laugh at the person who made it. End of story.
Sir Lucius Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 Rather than saying 'that sucks,' you should say 'I think that sucks.' Strait out opinion is less harsh than trying to make your opinion sound like fact. If you don't think someting looks good, there's no point in being nice saying, "I think it looks great," when you dont -- what are they going to learn from that? I prefer to get pounded with harsh critique if someone looks at my work. That way I won't have the guts to display it unless IKNOW it's good. And while doing a recolor of a preexisting skin may seem like a good effort, it shouldn't be encouraged. Unless your entire point was, "I wanted Kyle wit ha green shirt," but don't paint his shirt green and then say, "Here's my comando cammo skin." Set out to do something, and be original in the process. Ummm, k, didn't mean to rant. Well, you get the idea.
