npc spawning in multi - is it possible?

I was thinking since you can turn cheats on in single and in multiplayer, maybe you could spawn npc's just like in singleplayer.

 

I looked at a thread the other day with someone saying they had successfuly done it, but i can't remember who that person was.

 

I tried it myself on the bespin map in ffa and ctf modes, but it wouldn't do it, and i had cheats on and let the map reload.

 

Has anyone else tried this and it worked? Or has anyone done it using different commands? It would be a lot fun fighting a coupld atst's with some friends .
