I just bought the game and when I launch it either multiplayer or single player, i get a gray screen, which turns white, then it goes black and stays that way. I have no idea what is wrong, and I reinstalled it several times. I only have a DVD-rom drive. my specs are:

P3 450

320 RAM

GeForce 2 Ti 23.11 drivers

What else can i do???

I've got the same problem. The game was running the first few days, but now it just hangs on the white screen. What is your desktop set at?

Try using Wicked GL

You can find it here...

http://www.wicked3d.com/products/wickedgl/default.htm/

After you install WickedGL and quake3 drivers if nessicary, open Wglgames.cfg in wordpad. Half way down or so you'll see the line

"Quake 3",quake3.exe,opengl32.dll

DON'T CHANGE THE NAME IN QUOTES. Changing the name will prevent WickedGL's installer from running.

Change the line to...

"Quake 3",jk2sp.exe,opengl32.dll

Save, and exit. Install the GL drivers using the control panel

( It still says Quake 3 in the game box, but it will really work for Jedi Knight Outcast)

------------------------------------

AFTER INSTALLING WICKED GL

Also if the sky and the gamma is still messed up then do this...

You will need to open the jk2mpconfig.cfg file in Wordpad and change a few numbers.

This file is located in: "\Jedi Outcast\GameData\base"

To fix the sky, find the line that reads:

seta r_fastsky "1"

Change the 1 to a 0 and the sky should reappear.

Now, to fix the gamma, find the line that reads:

seta r_ignorehwgamma "0"

Change the 0 to a 1 and the gamma should be normal.

Save the file, load JO and you should be good to go.

Yes it is...

My mistake....

Glad you caught it....

For Geforce users

You may want to try using the

Detonator 21.83 WHQL certified drivers

For Radeon users try getting a driver set

that is up-to-date ( but not the newest )

Or possibly check out getting the newest OpenGL Setup here....

http://www.opengl.org/

The main site is down for a few days

but drivers and stuff should still be availible.

same for me. I tried the different generations of drivers. I tried the opengl thing you suggested, but it says my video card isn't supported?? I have a geforce2 Ti 64 mb DDR. Very weird. My only hope is the tech support at this point.

Well, it's still doing it. Changing desktop color, getting the 23.11 drivers and uninstalling/reinstalling hasn't fixed it yet. I'm thinking about giving it to someone at school to see if they have the same problems. If they do, then I know it's most likely the disk and not my computer.
