CL_ParseErrorFix!!!! (Read)

Apparently this is a problem facing many users with routers trying to run q3/half-life/jk2/unreal servers or incorrect configured routers. The problem resides in the Cisco NAT (Network Address Translation) that allows users using a software or hardware dhcp server to route specific ports to computers on a lan with internal ip address's. Please feel free to comment on my analysis as I am not 100% sure about this but it worked for me. One last thing don't use dmz host as it leaves ur computer more susceptible to attacks and the such.

Step 1:

Add these lines to your server.cfg or jk2mpconfig.cfg or jk2config.cfg file(s) located in the base folder. These lines change NAT problems with parse information in the router by assigning a specific address to your client and server for jk2. You will need to port forward in your router too.

seta net_port 28071

seta port 28071

seta sv_master1 "masterjk2.ravensoft.com:28071"

//remaining steps needed for server configuration and mainly pertain to linksys routers in general. but will give a general idea for all other routers. ie dlink netgear

Step 2:

get into web browser and access the linksys configuration or other configuration for your router ie '192.168.1.1'.

Step 3:

goto advanced tab and click on the fowarding ports. under range for ports set it '28071 to 28071'.

Step 4:

then set the protocol check box to "UDP"

Step 5: set it to goto the appropriate ip address on your lan ie 192.168.1.xxx

Step 6: make sure the ip forwarding check is enabled as well.

I'm not 100% sure this will work for all people. I'm currently using Road Runner Cable service from time warner in houston area. I have a Toshiba PCX1100U Cable Modem and a linksys BEFSR11 one port router. It seems to be workign fine now as JK2 and Quake 3 don't kick clients after every 1-3 minutes after joining. The only way i could play on my own server was to access it through the local setting in jk2. for some reason with these new settings it seems that i got a client drop when i connected to my own server via internet. But connecting local works and all others can connect via the internet with no problems! good luck.

I get the error mentioned above but use NO ROUTER.

I also get:

CL_ParsePacketEntities: end of message

I have a Realtek 8029 based ethernet card under Windows 2000... I've updated the drivers. I even replaced the card with another brand (also based on Realtek 8029) and same problem.

My other computer works fine on the same hub.... uses 3com ethernet card.

Any ideas?

I have heard of allot of problems with servers not refreshing....

DSL problems... Cable problems.... Network game problems

And all of these have one thing in common

WINBLOWS NETWORKING

Try updating to the latest software or drivers for your

Modem, NIC, Router and also your MAINBOARD

Or whatever else you may have.

See if that solves the problem...

If that doesn't work you are most likely running a firewall somewhere....

( Either software firewalls, or some routers, switches, and hubs have them installed on a chip inside it and are hardware controlled through the driver )

Try re-configuring your firewall and opening some extra ports....

Also try searching the Microsoft web site for

for networking updates, patches, etc.....

I have 6 systems on my network....

And all my stuff is up to date...

All have firewalls...

And It runs just fine on all 6.
