Freezing on loading screen

Hi,

My JK2 has been running just about perfectly up to this point - short loading times, no errors etc. but just today it decided it wanted to screw me over.

 

It's not in-game, but on the loading screen - the transition from cairn_reactor to cairn_dock1 freezes when the bar gets about 7/8 across the screen - it does it every time. The thing is, I got past the save screen and got a little way into cairn_dock1, but got killed, so I reloaded from the transition save - now every time I try to load it it freezes or restarts my computer at 7/8 of the way up - either one.

 

This has happened only one other time when I loaded an in-game save in Reelo's hideout - I have had none of those problems up until now.

 

My Specs are:

 

Pentium 4 1400Mhz Dimension 8100 series

256 Mb RAM

Creative GeForce 3 Ti 200

Soundblaster Live!

Windows ME

 

I have Direct X 8.1 and my drivers are up to date. I tried doing things like disabling GL extensions and turning textures down to 16mb - but no change.

 

Please help me, i've gotten so far with such little hassle - it's a brilliant game, I just want to finish the Single Player!

i have a similar problem except that mine freezes (and restarts my computer if i let it sit long enough) almost every time i try to play. it won't even usually show the loading bar, my hd will make a lot of noise like its doing something then it stops and the game will restart my computer.

 

when the game actually runs its fine (and awesome too btw).

I have a similar problem, my game will only let me load once everytime i open it. the 2nd time i try to load a game the bar just stops when it gets a quarter of the way through someone helppp!

Well, I had the same problems during the first few days - then I installed a nocd-crack and it worked perfectly fine from then on. You might want to try it.
