Hmmm, I can host it if you email it to me, but I only have a 56k connection at home with MSN, plus I can't upload from there yet.

and he grunts when he jumps, screams when he falls to his death and has footsteps. dunno. i suppose i could probably change that animsounds file back...but it seems to work as is.

Well that would seem to put a dent in that theory :) Though Sup3rFly's explanation seems logical. I am not sure why it doesn't get used though.

i believe ive figured out how to record new sounds and taunts and add them in. some more testing required but ill let you know. thanks everyone ;)

I believe you just stick a custom taunt.mp3 in a sound/chars/ben/misc directory in your pk3 and edit the sounds.cfg to point to:

chars/ben/misc

m

Please send it to me, I'd very much so appreciate it.

At this point, I am compiling an "uber pk3" that contains all of the skins I presently am in possession of, if anyone wants a copy, I can send it to them...somehow. Or upload it on a server that wants it.

Don't worry, I won't try and say it's mine. That would be WRONG.

Rajess: i was thinking that once the SDK has been released, we as a community should create a "pre-SDK" .pk3 file that contains all the skins that have been created up to that point. Kind of like a "closing of the book." Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Perhaps this should be its own topic...? Yeah, that's the ticket!

Okay...I don't really know what to say other than, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." :)

Personally, I'd change it back to the original animsounds.cfg, but I'm the paranoid type.

I'm already lumping my skins into one pk3. The problem I find I am running into is that some of the skins cancel each other out and I am forced to rename them. It's fun though, although the downside might be compatability.

In JK I'm pretty sure that if something was renamed it was completely incompatable. BUT, this is JO, and the MP code is far more sophisticated, so hopefully all will be well. I really wanna use the Dooku skin I got. It's badass.

hmmm that is something we should get an answer on.. how "sophisticated" is the q3 engine? does it require that the pk3 files be named identical on the client and server or only that the data within them be parsed into the program's cache?

The pk3 file name can be whatever you want. I believe that the game reads the pk3s in alphanumeric order, so the lower in the alphabet will get read last.

However, Rajess said that he moved some models into their own directories. While I agree that this is a better way to do it, the models will be incompatible w/ the single skin mods if they were originally clumped in one directory.

But if everyone d/ls the mega skin pack, then it will work fine :)

Rajess, are you including bot support for all the skins in your pack? If you are putting all skins in their own directories, then it would be easy to add bot support. But, I would recommend putting the bot files in a separate pk3 that can be d/led separately. That way people could choose whether or not they wanted a ton of new bots added.

If you are interested in creating a bot support addon, but have a question about what I mean then let me know.

Sounds to me like Rajess is doing just fine on this project.. If you want to contact me w/ the specifics of what you had in mind, you can pm me. However, I think you should talk to Rajess b/c he already has a skin pack put together.

Absath, sorry to carry on other conversations in your post, but at least it keeps it bumped up top :)

You should post a link to your skin in here now that it has been released :)
