Crashing to Desktop

Everytime I play JO, the game crashes to the desktop with a program error. This happens randomly in both SP and MP. If anyone can help, that would be great! Thanks in advance!

Thousands of us are having the same problem, diff hardware and OS...just have to wait for patch, nothing has worked for the majority of us. Check the "freezing" thread though, lots of good ideas to try, worked for a few.

I hope they are pleased with all the pain and suffering they are causing the poor Albions in DAoC by keeping me from my lightsaber!

I know that there are people in here with lots of problems running the game. I just want to know if anyone is actually getting kicked to the desktop or is it some other related crash? Maybe we should start a thread that lists all the different types of crashes that people are getting (instead of just saying that my game crashes). There may be a difference between crashing and locking up. I have tried all of the fixes that others have posted, but with no avail. Thanks for the help.

When looking throught the log that the error creates, it seems that most, if not all of the faults come from an EAX source. I checked my OpenAL command and it is set to 0. Is anyone else having problems with the sound? I am using Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer.

Try doing this....

1. Go to Program Files\Jedi Knight\Game Data\

2. Copy the file OpenAL32.dll (Sound card libraries)

3. Paste the file into C:\windows\system32\

This will replace the Old sound libraries with the new ones.

For some wierd reason the installer seems

to be corrupting some files during install...

I'd reccomend you disable your EAX and your Surround Sound

Use Stereo Sound...

If you use Creative Enviroments on your desktop then

Try using Normal Multispeaker If your have more than 2 speakers.

Quality wont be quite as good but it still sounds NICE

and doesn't have problems with compatability....

Thanks, I will try that. Ever since I installed JO, my other games (Retrurn to Castle Wolfenstein and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002) also do not work. I get the same error with the other two games. Maybe they are related problems, but I just don't know.
