My first post :D

From what it sounds like you have the resolution of the game set higher than what your monitor can handle. This can easyly be resolved a few ways.

  • Plug in a different monitor, that can handle a higher resolution.
  • Go into your game directory and look for jk2mpconfig.cfg (or jk2config.cfg for single player). Once found save a copy somewere else, outside of the game directory (just incase :D ). Now that you have all that done, open the config file with word or wordpad, and look for seta r_fullscreen "1". Change it to seta r_fullscreen "0". Now this should start your game without fullscreen. Look for the options inside the game, and lower your resolution. (I suggest 800*600). Now that's all set go back into your config file, and change it back to seta r_fullscreen "1". After that everything should be all fixed.

my monitor is pretty crappy but its a bit extreme buying a new monitor for one game (even if it is the best game ive played since MOH:AA)

i think ill wait and see if i get any more responses before i fork out a great deal of cash for a new monitor"!
