john6370
Well like most people i don't have a newer system and my processor is less then 1ghz, but it is faster then the min system Requiresments on the box, but not much. Anyways i picked up the game last week and for the first 2 levels it ran great, even better then ROCW, that was until i got to the mines area. Like everyone, even the faster 1ghz+ processors it slows down, but if you have a slower system like mine it becomes almost unplayable even with everything TURNED OFF. so I started to mess the the console commands and i found that after alot of messing around I i was able to squeeze a little more FPS out of my system-just enough to get me past this crappy level-.. First, my system 500MHZ celron 66mhz FSB 256 megs ram Geforce 2mx400 I tested my FPS out(1024*768 texures maxed and everything elso low or off) and i found out that I get Inside 45-60 FPS in closed areas with no one around 25-35 with a few bad guys 14-20 with more then 8 bad guys Outside mines 8-12 fps with no bad guys and everything turned off Not playable * only this level gives me ALOT OF problesm outside, the other outside levels do not drop the FPS down as much.... So after alot of F-ing around i was able to increase my FPS outside and keep the game running more stable all the time This is what i did First, thing i did was turn off sound, only the mine level.- it will help, but you have to disable it from windows so your computer will not use the resources it needs to have sound.*i went in the bios and disabled it on boot up*same thing because windows did not detect my sound card Second thing i did *this made the game the most stable even on other levels that the fps is fine. I set the maxFPS to 30, I know 30 FPS is not great, but it is better then 16 and i did not see that frame skip that i got from 60fps with no bad guys to 25fps with alot of bad guys....IT DOES MAKE THE GAME RUN BETTER even if the FPS is less it just runs smoother.....I would try this first because if your game runs smoother it will make it feel less buggy......You see when their is no one around the FPS is around 60FPS, but as soon as some Bad guys show up it takes a hit and you will notice it and it will make the game look giggly and the sound cracks, s0 when i set the max fps to 30 i did not notice that sudden drop in frame rate and it did run alot smoother and the sound did not crack at all.... Third, I set the mouse senceitivy to a very low setting....this will help with the mine level alot. I set it so that you really have to move the mouse alot to get your guy to move....This did help alot on the mine level because my fps went up from 8 to 15 and that is juse enough to get me past this crapy level...*i set it back to normal after i got past the outside part* OK this will help those systems that are like mine
