MuskOx Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 My friend is trying to run jedi outcast on his comp. The sound stutters when he plays and well... is very annoying. I was wondering if anyone knew the cause of this. He has a C-Media audio card. I think it is on his graphics card which is an ATI rage. I wish i could be more specific but that is all he told me. In addition, I was messing around with the console and i typed in /testgun. Anywho now i can't see any of my weapons, does anyone know how to fix this?
ID10T Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Well for starters, that C-Media sound card is absolute crap. But... I have probably the same problem with my Audigy card. It's not so much stuttering, but static quite frequently. I hear that many people are having this bug. Issuing a snd_restart doesn't fix it. Hope that Raven knows about this.
jasho Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 It may be the sound card, but what are the specs of your friend's system? If he has a slow CPU, then that will definately contribute to the stuttering. If all else fails, just tell him to get a new one.
MuskOx Posted April 10, 2002 Author Posted April 10, 2002 Im fairly sure it is not a cpu speed problem, because it does it equally with maxed detail settings and low detail settings.
jasho Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 How about DirectX? What version is he using? DirectX 8.0a or 8.1 should work. Make sure that the hardware setting is set to full in DirectX and then turn the slider down one notch each time. This sometimes remedies problems and sometimes it does not. But, hey it does not hurt to try.
